A nice place to chill as you wonder around Rye. The coffee and snacks were very good. Has the atmosphere of a cafe we sadly lack in the country

What a delightful little place; delicious home-made cakes, relaxed atmosphere and cosy rooms all leading off from each other until you get to the final one with pages from The Beano pasted onto the ceiling! A great place for afternoon tea in between browsing Rye's beautiful independent shops and pottering around the lovely cobbled streets.

The Apothecary has now become my regular Sunday morning breakfast stop when I am in the area. Occupying a fairly central location on the High Street, it is a fascinating mix of the old and the very old. The coffee is excellent, the bacon sandwich hits the spot and the staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a look.

Good menu, good coffee, good food, good service, lots of tables - best place for lunch I have tried in Rye, I may not try anywhere else now I've found the Apothecary.

Popped in here on a recent day out in rye. Having never been before and a lot of choice of tea rooms in rye this one caught our eye. It's based over three floors that seem to have been different houses in the past, it's decoration is very unusual but very nice and cosy. The food is fresh and also... More

I regularly pop in here when shopping in Rye. The coffee is excellent with a choice of hot or cold milk. Always a good selection of cakes and savoury options. Very laid back atmosphere, a good place to unwind. The service is always good, and the cafe clean

We often come to the Apothecary ealy on a Sunday morning for toast. Yup, toast. Huge slices of granary bread with butter and (oh yum!) marmite - or jam, or marmalade, etc. as takes your fancy. Always the same laid-back place - please don't be in a rush - and it's just lovely - full of atmosphere over 3 split... More

Asked if we wanted hot or cold milk without prompting! Beans are a high Continental roast, didn't see a choice but maybe they vary from day to day, and strength admirable. Lovely laidback atmosphere, good mix of upright tables and squashy sofas, plenty of reading material. Oh, and the carrot cake is wonderful. Ignore the fact that it's served in... More

We just stopped here for a cappucino and espresso and we loved the coffee and the atmosphere. Relaxed and comfortable!

We popped in for breakfast today and admittedly, I have a cold and this makes me quite crotchetty. I thought the atmosphere very pleasant, the service excellent and our food was really nice - a bacon butty and a toasted teacake. A bit slow to arrive but fine. However, if you are thinking of visiting on a warm summer's day,... More
