Olde world charm

We stopped for refreshments whilst strolling around Rye. Their extensive range of teas, coffees and milkshakes is supplemented by a tasty array of snacks and we enjoyed toasted teacakes and Victoria sponge which kept us going till dinner.

The Apothecary is an institution. It's brilliant. The people that work there are bright and breezy and always upbeat. The regulars are warm and welcoming. They say "hello" to pretty much everyone and anyone and aren't at all snobby. My family loves this place as they welcome push-chairs and wheel-chairs and any kind of walking stick and zimmer frame. They simply LOVE babies and young children... We visited the Apothecary for breakfast. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We have been here a few times before when visiting Rye, and we have never failed to be impressed. The poached eggs on granary toast were cooked to perfection, with lovely runny yolks. My husband loved the coffee. We will be back.

A lovely building with lots of rooms and sofas. I went with two friends. We had tea for two, a hot chocolate and two scones. We had to wait about 10 minutes or more for the scones after the tea was served, having had to remind the young waitresses. The scones weren't warmed and were stale. While there one of... More

You wander from one room to another to find a comfy chair to enjoy a coffee or indeed a homemade light lunch. Good value excellent service a touch of the past
