Superb!!

Went for Sunday lunch and it was superb. The restaurant was lovely, the staff very friendly and welcoming. Never realised an Indian roast lunch could be so tasty. Will definitely be going back again.

The new location of the Ambrette is much better than its first home in the White Vine. The restaurant is laid out well with crisp white table linen and is nice and warm in winter. It overlooks the old monastery at the back but unfortunately they don't make the most of the view which used to be floodlit and a... More

Great food with nice choices of local produce. Dishes are well presented with a nice variety f style. Went early but busy by the time we left so worth booking in advance.

Was interesting when it first opened but this group have really lost the plot despite the cluster of certificates awarded. When you see a cooking show on television , the plate sprinkled with pomegranate seeds looking great , how many of us rush out to boy some for next day's dinner? I started with 2 small bits of chicken breaststroke... More

I've noted this resaurant is never busy. I tried to book a table for 7.30 but couldn't, and was offered 7.45 but took 7. The restaurant was very quiet and I realised why the few bookings are staggered, there was only one waiter. The interior is lovely but the outside does not reflect this. I'm writing this review because my... More

On a weekend stay in Rye, the Ambrette was our first stop for lunch. It set the weekend up very nicely. The food was very good. I had an Indian take on "cottage pie" essentially. The waiter was knowledgeable about the food and actually helped sway ordering additional sides which weren't necessary and would have been a waste of money.... More

Gastronomically an interesting restaurant. The website enthused us with full of promise conjuring up quality of service and good food. Whilst the fusion of flavours was interesting, the service though friendly felt more like cafe than fine dining. We had pheasant and pork. The pork seemed like a cheap supermarket cut. The veg was soggy and losing its flavour. A... More

We loved Ambrette when it first opened. It was an exciting addition to the High Street, an "Indian" restaurant that could not be further from the usual hearty, heavy and oily offerings: delicate flavourings, unusual combinations of ingredients. Some things have not changed: the waiting staff have always been good and still are. The premises are possibly better than the... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday night and the food and service were exceptional. The flavours were just insane. I have samosas for my starter and the fish of the day for main my partner had the lamb for main and we were both delighted. I enjoyed a couple of glasses of bubbles and we finished with a more than... More
