All a bit disorganised. We pre-booked yet an hour in to the meal got a call to see if we were still dining there! Restaurant was not full at any time we were there, yet they turned away 3 or 4 couples looking for a table. Service felt rushed from the start and staff poorly trained (would have been OK... More

First visit to this restaurant was a great experience. So hard to choose from all the tempting options. Starters, mains, deserts and lots of little extras were all beautifully spiced and tasty. Service was attentive and very helpful. Bill was very reasonable. A very special place, can't ain't to go back.

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Ambrette. My pheasant just melted in the mouth and the flavours were complex and delightful. Lovely ambience too although it was a little quiet at the time we were there. Liked all the little extras!

I'd heard good reports, read the menu online & was looking forward to eating here. A friend and I went for lunch, no reservation. We were seated in a back room, no ambience ! We both ordered the main Chicken Biryani which was very tasty when it was finally served ! We had waited over an hour with some complimentary... More

Enjoyed dosai and the fish curry. Not had Indian this good since the imperial hotel deli 2009. The pre started and the filler between starter and main was welcome but totally not needed. Great value. Lovely. Highly recommend.

We had a poussin and pigeon starter and both were nice and well cooked. The amuse bouche was a shot of fruit punch. It tasted like umbungo. We had two thalis (vegetarian) and each included 7 tiny dishes of which 1 was yoghurt, 1 was rice, 1 was spinach, 1 was low quality beetroot and the other three were small... More

I am a big fan of Ambrette, having discovered the Margate restaurant a few years ago. We met two other couples here on a warm August Saturday night with high expectations an unfortunately were a little disappointed. The main issue was the service which, to be be frank, was a bit slow and more than a little amateurish. We had... More

I had the good fortune to be treated to a meal here. I have never tasted food with such tremendous subtlety and refinement. In between courses we were given small helpings of food which, I suppose have to be called "amuses bouches" and were a supremely confident CV of the chef's skill. Every course was served with unfussy efficiency; the... More

Somewhere very different in the centre of Rye - innovative menu, interesting building, and courteous staff. The prices are by no means unreasonable, either. The only slight negative was the inordinate time taken to produce a bill, but in the staff's defence they were short-handed and very busy. Overall a very good experience - would definitely eat here again.

An immense disappointment from a restaurant that promises so much. I'd been keen to try this intriguing 'Indian fusion' concept since a colleague recommended the original Margate branch. The menu looked inviting and ambitious and so we chose it for a birthday lunch for a party of 3. Things didn't get off to a great start when two of the... More
