The old pub has been done up - largely by stripping it back to its old wood and brick.great atmosphere. The food was well above normal pub food and the wines were v good and reasonable. Recommended for both food and just for a drink. The staff and customers were very friendly.

This used to be a great social hub in Rye, and then there was a long period of uncertainty over its future - but now its under new ownership and beautifully renovated. More a restaurant than a pub, but we don't yet know what its like in the evenings. The food was excellent, reasonably priced, and unpretentious. Service was friendly,... More

Just re-opened, this is a must try pub/ restaurant. First visit was for coffee and 'straightener'. First time I have had hot water served on the side with my brandy. We had Sunday lunch on the following day and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the roast with slightly rare beef and perfectly cooked vegetables.

Well, it is not a pub anyway. It is now a B&B, which is a great shame as it was the best pub in Rye by miles.

it is most unfortunate that they seem to be about to go bust. used to be a good pub, but now it needs a new owner. sad to see to be honest. has the potential but needs someone with vision.

situated in the town a lovely old public house, real ales, and the food is far better than ordinary pub grub.

This pub although quite busy on a Saturday has a separate dining room, the menu was excellent and varied and inexpensive at around £25 a head with a pre-dinner ale and wine during the meal.

Had a very nice burger and chips. Staff were very friendly. Good atmosphere - nice and busy. Down to earth venue for an evening out.
