After a. Viewing of Jurassic Park ( not as good as the previous ones) we turned up at the standard for Dinner, the bar looked full but the restaurant at the back had tables available. After ordering at the bar we were served in a timely manner. The puddings looked delicious but I was full and asked for a small... More

Not many pubs can pull off both a good drinking pub and eating place in one. The Standard does. Pared back in the recent restoration to reveal its raw beauty, the Standard has a great atmosphere. We went on boxing day and were cooked for by the barman as the chef was ill. Didn't know this until we paid the... More

The thing about the standard is that you can't book ahead. This was my husband's 64th birthday and we had both sons and girlfriends. The back room can be very noisy. Kids. Waitress offered to move us, but no front room tables available. Roast pork and beef, both with yorkshires. Treacle tart and apple rhubarb crumble very good Good service.... More

It is almost impossible to go for a meal and a drink when you have two dogs in tow so having had this bar recommend by a local antique dealer we thought we'd give it a try. What a fine recommendation it was - great staff, fine beers, an interesting selection of non-alcoholic drinks and very good food that was... More

What a lovely place . The exterior really doesn't do it justice . Inside it's lovely and fresh but still has loads of character . Great choice of beers and a nice menu , we had an excellent meal . The outside which is a real sun trap. We took our two Cocker Spaniels and we're made to feel welcome... More

We had drinks and dinner at The Stnadrad Inn. The best 'pub' dining I've ever experienced. The food was of 5 star restaurant quality and presentation. Lovely ambience, great staff and very dog friendly to. A perfect choice in Rye in my opinion. Good value also.

The Standard is a lovely old place the room was clean, the bed was comfy but the pillows were so thin making sleep difficult also there was no hand soap in the bathroom. There was a bath but no shower just a shower head on the bath taps. Also there is an issue with noise when the downstairs pub kicks... More
