The Tuscan Kitchen is an intimate restaurant which specialises in Tuscan cuisine but also features food from other regions of Italy. The menu changes regularly and there is an extensive wine list to suit all tastes and budgets. Booking is advisable. A recent refurbishment means that we now have more seating overlooking our courtyard to accommodate larger groups. The Tuscan Kitchen was taken over by Lucy and Gerry Avena in September 2013.

We had been told great things about the Tuscan Kitchen but on the day we were due to go we learnt that it had changed hands recently - we wondered if this was a bad omen. The staff were very pleasant, the service was friendly and helpful, but the food was nothing special. I had a bean soup without any... More

The food was delicious and I particularly recommend the scallops although my partner loved his bean soup. The tortellini was great and I had hake which I very much enjoyed. We both loved the home made apple pie with vanilla ice-cream and the prosecco washed it all down very nicely. A lovely restaurant well set out and a very enjoyable... More

Visited on a Saturday night in May. Booking was for 8:30pm - restaurant was busy but other diners seemed to be finishing off their meals rather than starting them so if we come back we may book a little earlier.. Food was pleasant without being anything special. Service fairly good although towards the end of the meal the restaurant emptied... More

Yes, we have eaten at the Tuscan Kitchen twice and had good food, wine and service on both occasions. Very good value using Travelzoo and I've still got one to go! The atmosphere is best at any of the window tables - a view of the old street and admiring tourists. Staff very friendly and house red delicious.

I had heard about this place quite a while ago but had never been before. I believe the original owners were Tuscan hence the restaurant's name. I saw this as a £40 Travelzoo voucher offer for 2 people which included a 3 course meal with a glass of Prosecco so thought I would give it a try on a Sunday... More

We had heard so much about this restaurant and the excellent ratings that we finally went. We have to say we were slightly disappointed and agree with the last few comments. Girl was very brusque when making the booking, not very friendly welcome, not even from a man thought to be the owner, did not seem that bothered or seem... More

Went here with my husband. The service was prompt and friendly. The food fresh and tasty. Red house wine very drinkable. Lovely setting and quiet, adult atmosphere in a busy restaurant.

Having been to this restaurant many times with the previous owners and now the new I am really at odds as to how to rate it at present. There is a sense of no-one really in front of house who is bothered too much. So it has lost its friendly welcome. The waiters are lovely and professional but there is... More

I have eaten here four or more times when I have visited Rye. It's been a standard formidable and trustworthy place. This visit changed my opinion. Poor service from people who really didn't seem to care, food that was sub standard quality, and generally no atmosphere. My sea bass was served in a pool of broth, it was cut in... More
