The Tuscan Kitchen is an intimate restaurant which specialises in Tuscan cuisine but also features food from other regions of Italy. The menu changes regularly and there is an extensive wine list to suit all tastes and budgets. Booking is advisable. A recent refurbishment means that we now have more seating overlooking our courtyard to accommodate larger groups. The Tuscan Kitchen was taken over by Lucy and Gerry Avena in September 2013.

Good Italian food

We had a lovely meal here. The food was excellent and the service attentive but unobtrusive, which is not always easy to achieve. The only reason I have given it 4 stars not 5 is because we were surprised in this day and age that decaffinated coffee was not available. So, we went down the road to the George for... More

I finally made it to Tuscan Kitchen, having read many great reviews (and a personal recommendation from friends of mine) - but I have to say I wasn't overly impressed. My husband and I didn't have a lot of time to spend there, so we shared a starter (bruschetta) which we thought might comprise a few pieces, instead it was... More

Tuscan Kitchen was chosen for the second meal on our weekend break to Rye. We were a party of ten and were seated in the window in front of the bar. A good spot as the night was warm and the open windows were welcomed. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food well cooked, appetising and well... More

We just wanted to air our disappointment re our dining experience at the Tuscan Kitchen. The food was it's usual reasonably good standard however the service was somewhat lacking and disappointing. My partner and I were enjoying our main course when the server, accidentally knocked my partner's glass of wine over onto his lap and also onto his dinner plate.... More

This is a lovely restaurant with authentic Italian fare. Not a huge choice of food, but there was enough to choose from. All was beautifully presented, and very tasty. Very friendly and helpful staff. And they served an Aperol Spritz!

Went with friends last Friday (August 21). A delightfully old-fashioned (in the décor sense only) Italian restaurant with the emphasis on "slow-cooking". Two of us ate the Insalata dei Medici, which was light and full of flavour. We followed with a simple ravioli, superbly executed, whilst the other two had the sea-bass, complete with head and fins! We all shared... More

Great food with really good portion size and interesting presentation which made it a fantastic experience. Good service. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Italian food and drink at its best. The quality was superb and the portions generous . Recommend the pear, gorgonzola cheese and walnut salad as a starter and the bruschetta was amazing. The veal chop was huge and well-cooked as was the rack of lamb. The whole sea bass was a little daunting - prefer my fish without head !The... More

We had eaten here before and thought it was little better than average, however this time the whole meal was superb. The staff are excellent and the house wines are very good. The meals are on the expensive side but you do get a quality product in a pleasant environment.
