Popped in for lunch when couldn't get a table at the George. First time for us and we won't rush back. My fish was large but not really full of flavour - asked for a salad to go with, came without dressing, no potatoes in sight. My husband had the shellfish platter- looked good, but let down by watery prawns... More

I went here with a couple of friends. From the outside it looked good, but once we were seated we found the table to be sticky (not tacky, but quite sticky). We waited to give our order, and waited and waited... In the end we had to wave at the waiters who were chatting at the bar to get served.... More

Pop in for a late quick lunch. Bland pasta dish, poor and slow service. No spoons with the sauces and Parmesan. Just not very good

Not attentive service by any measure. Wrong order brought out. No finger bowls, no steak knives, hair in food, no bread with mussels. Food was warm, not hot. The size of the steak seemed small for the menu stated size. One positive is I asked for medium rare, and it was medium rare. Would we go back? No, but that... More

had to find something else. I rather fancied frying up a bit of ostritch but we were too late. We considered burgers or ribs at the site restaurant but they had finished serving so it was off to Rye to see if anyone would feed us at 9 in the evening. The menu at Carey's caught our eye and the... More

The House Special Cold Seafood Platter was absolutely wonderful here! 3 different types of prawn, 2 types of mussels, sardines, I'm sure there were 2 different types of smoked salmon as well! The dressed crab was lovely, very tasty crayfish ... oh I could go on. Lovely friendly staff, nice relaxed restaurant, couldn't ask for more really.

A nicely positioned restaurant by the sea must have fresh seafood. The seafood platter was clearly defrosted prawns shipped in on a lorry, along with all the other seafood on the plate. No finger bowl supplied for prawns in their shells. The calamari was so oily and as it clearly came from a deep fat fryer that hasn't had its... More

We were rather disappointed with our meal here. The food was nice enough but the atmosphere wasn't very good. Too light so it was like sitting in a canteen. Also it was a cold and rainy evening and everyone that came in or went out left the door open and where we were sitting we got the draught every time.... More

6pm we were starving. Had walked past Carey's earlier so decided to give them a go. Very busy, even just after 6pm. I had the chili prawns and SWMBO the smoked ham and salmon, followed by the marsh lamb and bream fillets. Bit of a delay before the first course arrived, understandable really. Everything was nicely cooked and tasty. Recommended.

We walked around Rye to find a decent restaurant to have lunch for my sons 30th Birthday & decided to eat in Careys. Service was good, did kill a couple of ants on the table. Soup starter was very good, whitebait was very few, smoked salmon very limited, but a whole tomato sliced. No choice of any cider. Mussels were very... More
