This restaurant appeared to be 'high end' from the outside, however once inside you realise it been neglected for some years and needs a lick of paint/change of decor/new cutlery/plates etc. Was excited by offer of local fresh fish and ordered 'Traditional Cod and Chips' for £10.50- Assumed fish would be local and fresh as their menu states, however what... Not being very adventurous regarding fish dishes I went for traditional cod and chips. The fish was good but the chips were obviously out of the freezer, I expected them to be freshly made from what I thought to be an upmarket restaurant. Saying that, The Dover sole and plaice my companions enjoyed looked very good although the vegetables were... More

Don't be put off by some of the oddly negative reviews of this eatery. We had dinner here after a long journey to Rye, and the experience was wholly pleasurable. The menu is seriously fishy, which is what we wanted. A starter of scallops was brilliant, better than we have had in far more expensive restaurants elsewhere. Whitebait were crisp... More

We had Baked Cod with a Goats Cheese Crumble Topping with fresh vegetables, absolutely delicious. The Bailey`s Crème Brulee was mouth wateringly good and the Lumpy Bumpy Chocolate Pudding was heaven. Would recommend the food, and the lovely friendly staff made for a very pleasant evening.

We ventured here for a late lunch as the family wanted to see Camber Sands. From the impression given it should have been a good experience but sadly it was not to be. I have no complaints with the chefs or the kitchen but the waiting staff were the let down of this restaurant. No smiles, no appreciation of your... More

We had found it difficult to find somewhere to eat in Rye that had something on the menu for everyone in our family, we had high hopes for here but were pretty disappointed. I had the burger, it tasted pretty average and was very small, and the chips were not homemade as I had hoped.

Popped in for lunch when couldn't get a table at the George. First time for us and we won't rush back. My fish was large but not really full of flavour - asked for a salad to go with, came without dressing, no potatoes in sight. My husband had the shellfish platter- looked good, but let down by watery prawns... More

I went here with a couple of friends. From the outside it looked good, but once we were seated we found the table to be sticky (not tacky, but quite sticky). We waited to give our order, and waited and waited... In the end we had to wave at the waiters who were chatting at the bar to get served.... More

Pop in for a late quick lunch. Bland pasta dish, poor and slow service. No spoons with the sauces and Parmesan. Just not very good
