Fishy Saturday evening meal

We visited on a Saturday evening, although the decor wasn't plush we had a table for two near a window so we didn't experience the long table and benches mentioned in another review. The welcome was warm, and the service polite, quick and very pleasant background music while we ate. We both ate... read more

This place is down on the Strand, so you can see masts through the windows of boats moored at the Quay. We went for a late Sunday lunch and had the Sea bream, which was delicious, with expertly cooked vegetables (apart from the asparagus, which was a bit over done) and had a very respectable bottle of Pinot to wash... We went today for lunch, and were really looking forward to mussels and chips. What a disappointment!!! We found the table and benches quite unkind to the knees. The service was prompt and efficient. We soon found sand/grit in the mussels, but the most worrying was that the mussel flesh was not coming away from the shells which we took... More

Visited at 30th of May, Saturday. 4 people dinning Where should I start........ Never left a place so confused and disappointed, I wish Gordon Ramsay visited them with his 'Kitchen Nightmares' series. Four of us ordered four portions of Mussels with side of chips. Mussels were cold, undercooked and we also found a hair in one dish. Notified FOH about... More

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and found the food to be very good. Not sure whether the restaurant has changed hands however I found on this occasion the seafood platter to be tasteless which I have had on many occasions and enjoyed. I mentioned this to the waitress however the manager didn't appear to be interested and... More

This restaurant is housed in the old warehouses down by the strand and from the outside fits snuggly in the setting. On entering you get seated in old chuch pews on massive unmatch tables, by this I mean you are seated uncomforbly lower than the table, unless you request a cushion, but book early as there isn't enough to go... Daily Special starter of King Scallops enjoyed by all! Steaks were chosen with the Surf option adding prawns or calamari and enjoyed, and the Home-Made burger was substantial and tasty - just no room left for dessert! Pleasant waiter. Only problem was limited hours of opening, but maybe we were too early in the season? Worth checking this - or... More

Arrived in Rye longing for something to eat and saw this Restaurant immediately we parked. As my Daughter and I love Seafood it was a definite choice. We both had Scallops which were delicious, her husband had Baked Goats cheese pie which also was very good. We followed these with, Fish & Chips, Baked Whole Plaice with seasonal veg and... More

We came here to eat and on arrival the staff couldn't even be bothered to show us to a table. No one checked with us that all was ok during the meal either. The food was ok but overpriced for what you get. I'm pretty sure my fish had been microwaved. Other than that, perfectly pleasant, but there are definitely... More
