Fine dining, interesting venue

Fantastic food in a very traditional environment. Nothing much too dislike, the quality of the food was exceptional, the waiting staff very skilled

Rickety ,low beams an odd smell dark surrounds you are back in the times of smugglers in the 1400s a little staid for our liking not much chance to look around as this has guest rooms function rooms etc .A Huge Inglenook fireplace brilliant but Victorian furniture no and lot of window dressing spoils it

Was rather disappointed. I love old pubs with history and proper ale. This was our second time here and the first one was very good and the main reason for us to return. I had fish n chips and a pint of ale, The Wife had some sort of a sandwich kinda meal and half pint of cider. Came to... More

Ate dinner here after a day of sightseeing. I was quite underdressed compared to other guests, but I suppose I was too tired to care. The wait staff is excellent, the food is very good, but perhaps a bit pricey? Perhaps not. Good wine selection. If you want lobster (or some other fresh seafood -- I forget which one), you... More

Had a family lunch on May Day and was very impressed by the standard of the food and also by the waiter's detailed knowledge of the ingredients in each dish and what was suitable for my daughter who has intolerances to nuts, wheat and soya. By far the best experience she has had in a restaurant. Hats off to The... More

We took our friends to Rye to have a mooch around and The Mermaid is a must for a drink. It was built 150 years before Elizabeth I stayed there! Lots of interesting things to see and read about. We sat outside and a lovely young man went and got us some cushions to sit on outside in the sunshine.

We had lunch at this restaurant in March, an experience we were looking forward to given the reputation. We had friends from London visit so we thought it would be nice for us all to have lunch at this restaurant. When I booked the table for seven for 2pm I enquired whether the restaurant was family friendly. I was told... More

Found this little gem of a pub/restaurant in Rye! Only stopped by for drinks but the setting was glorious, the staff were really friendly and our dog was treated to lots of attention. If we'd been in Rye for more than a day we'd have definitely stopped to eat here!

We had the good graces to of ending up staying here which of course drew us to their restaurant, I am solom to say that I miss the incredibly well attentive staff with some amazing food to boot, breakfast here was obviously of a high standard too, but if I have to complain about something I feel the food (for...
