I had eaten in the Mermaid for a birthday meal years ago and it was very memorable. The restaurant has kept its formal fine dinning but is a little more relaxed and modern with the food since last time. I had the lobster saffron risotto to start which was so delicate and had wonderful flavours. My other half had the... More

Visited in October 2014 on a Sunday evening with my partner. We had previously tried having dinner here a couple of weeks before, but without a reservation, it was impossible. We were offered a small table in the bar if we preferred. On this occasion, we wanted to try their dinner menu, not their bar one and wanted more of... More

This experience was a family dinner to celebrate a special birthday. Organising a family party for over 50 people was logistically and politically an extremely stressful and difficult thing to do. The management at The Mermaid made everything as easy as possible, nothing was too much trouble and they were helpful and supportive at all times, even with last minute... More

We went as a couple for a meal last week and had a really good evening. The staff were very friendly and the place is incredible. We had the set meal and it was lovely, but I've got to say the tastiest of all was the complementary Butternut Squash soup at the start, it was fantastic (I know it's only... More

I would have dinner at the Mermaid Inn for the charm and atmosphere. The food is very good and plentiful.

The traveling foursome took a drive to Rye to enjoy lunch at The Historic Mermaid Inn Restaurant and bartend Sam and Patrick our waiter made our day. We entered this warm and woodsy restaurant with hops draped beams and enjoyed a massive burger, mussels and a cheese and meat board - a few beers, and wine. An excellent break in... More

This is a very old pub steeped in loads of history. But the thing I will remember is the excellent service and fantastic food. Beware you will probably need to book in advance. This is also a hotel but I only ate there for dinner. When talking to several hotel guests they gave it a good recommendation

We dropped in for lunch, two adults two children. They were expecting a large party shortly and checked with the chef but were able to squeeze us in. Great service in well looked after surroundings (would agree with other comments that toilets are tired and cramped). Food was out within 20 mins (our benchmark) although they kept apologising for the... More

Had the good fortune to have lunch in the bar following a great walk through Rye. Located on a cobble lane it is tucked away in Rye a heavenly Cinqu Port in southern England. I Have always wanted to eat here being a pub that was around before the first European's discovered Australia. Delightful low ceilings, with tasteful decorations and... More
