Fabulous fish restaurant - one of the best !

We ate twice at this restaurant during our stay in Rye. What a fantastic menu ! My wife is a lobster lover and reckons Webbe's lobster (caught near Eastbourne) is amonst the best she's ever had ! Very disappointed with our greatly anticipated visit. There was nothing in particular to complain about, equally however, there was nothing to be wowed about. The staff were not terribly engaging and seemed to be just going through the motions, the chef looked like he was bored. Our food was ordinary, from the bland mackerel with beetroot salad, poorly seasoned fish... More

As a large party of 16'ish we had a great limited choice menu agreed in advance with the restaurant. Food was well cooked and service pretty seamless and it was all very well done.

From the moment we arrived was a pleasure. Food, staff and drinks all first class with an emphasis on the delicious food !!! Well done to the chefs and staff.

We were recommended three places to eat in Rye with Webbes being the top. It was a relaxed pleasant atmosphere and thankfully missing the irritating enquiry 'how's your meal' after two mouthfuls. The food was outstanding, the steamed panache of fish, a particular highlight. Although I'm no lover of liquorish my wife is and gushed about the liquorish ice cream.... More

Oysters, mussels, welkes, clams, crab ...all great. Kids and adults enjoyed. Go early if with kids as it gets busy. Delicious!

As a frequent visitor to Rye, I'd wanted to try this restaurant for a while. I have no hesitation in recommending the food: nicely presented, fresh and tasty, good portions - the panache was an excellent dish. Ambiance OK but the room lacks something, more cafe than restaurant perhaps, not helped by the service which was too 'automatic' and lacked... More

Yesterday, the Artisan bread with local butter was enjoyed by us both, and complemented the prawns. Tempura and my mackerel (as a 2nd starter) worked well. Glad we tried the liquorice ice cream and lime pannacotta sounded intriguing, but tasted even better!

My wife has eaten here and wanted to take me so off we went for a Saturday trip..my only criticism is that the restaurant is dark and lacks something but the food is very good. really nice cuttlefish starter with an even better Fish Stew...difficult to get right but spot on! Price reasonable and service very good...just give the place... More
