Four of us ate there last night. We're fussy. Venue, food and staff all excellent. One of the best restaurants we've been to in Sussex. Well done to all the team.

Had lunch here for our anniversary - very friendly service, nice table in the conservatory and complimentary glass of bubbly. Gorgeous mocktails! Excellent menu choice - we enjoyed the seasonal lobster menu selection. The blackcurrant sorbet was fantastic!

We came to East Chiltington for a trip out of Brighton for a quiet lunch, the food was absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't criticise it in any way, the only disappointment was I found 2 small pieces of broken glass in my glass of water, although they were apologetic and changed it, it still happened. Overall it was a fantastic pub... More

The location is as fantastic as always, the welcome was friendly and the pre-lunch Harveys was perfect. But I'm afraid the food was pretty ordinary. I don't mind paying these prices for something that's a step above the average, but this was decidedly plain and certainly not a patch on the quality I remember from my last visit. Pity.

Well off the beaten track but worth finding. A fairly standard menu but well cooked with good service The conservatory area is good to eat in and the gardens are very pretty

We booked to go to this pub and specifically requested a table on the Lower Terrace, having dined there previously a couple of years back. We informed the pub we'd arrive at around 1ish. As others have remarked, this place is very out of the way and was too much for our sat nav. Consequently we arrived about 15 minutes... More

I really don't know what surprises me more, the reaction to not getting the exact table you requested, or the audacity to write a trip advisor review after behaving in such a manner. Firstly to clear up how you did not get the exact table you requested. Two tables were booked with 2 adults and 2 children on them. The... More

What larks Pip! The garden seating, the friendliness of the waitress, the warm summer's evening, the glass of chilled English sparkling wine, the delicious starters, mouthwatering mains, smooth Malbec and sumptuous pudding were a delight. We were in heaven!

We last visited several years ago and wanted to see if it still had the same high standards. It does. We hadn't booked which I feel is advisable and we're offered a pleasant table in the garden. The choice of food was excellent and it was difficult to choose. For two courses as well as appetisers and wine the bill... More

Lovely setting but the seats in the garden are uncomfortable. Food was good but the price was a bit high for the portion size. Not sure why an English pub feels it has to have silly French words in the menu. A stew should be called a stew. Overall a nice but expensive lunch.

Living nearby we've been here a few times although it's hardly our local. Used to love it despite priceyness but food tonight (birthday meal) was weird. We had advised them 3 out of 4 of us were veggie and told at least 3 choices. Not so. Starter was lovely although no choice but mains ... Gnocchi (billed as Potato gnocchi,... More
