Stopped for lunch today with friends and were so pleased to find it is dog friendly. All had different plough and which were very nice, I had the Harvey ale sausage plough and which came with 2 larger than normal sausages, French bread, butter, chutney and salad. It was large, delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it . We all cleared... More

Love having my beer poured directly from the cask ! We also ate on the last night we were in Lewes - we were late getting there (thanks to British Rail's signalling failures - reminded us how little we miss living in the South East) but they looked after us very well and we had a very good pub meal.... A little dark inside but clearly popular with the locals. Good quality food and drink for a reasonable price.

We stop here every year when in town for Guy Fawkes Day (we're Bonfire Boys). Excellent (and cheap) pig roast (they roast a cow, too) out in the parking lot. John Harvey's best available in quantity.

I visited the Harvey's Tavern with my mother, sister and young niece. Very nice 'old times' ambience. Great range of real ale fresh from the brewery which is appox 100mtrs away. Good menu and specials board. Fantastic service from the young waitress with red hair who I would have happily given a fair tip to. Unfortunately there was a 'tip... More

Best tempura prawns with hoisin sauce ever, not to mention an ace "bloody" Mary. Lovely olde world pub, staff very welcoming and efficient and felt right at home. Really worth a visit

It's hardly surpising that the beer here is excellent, because it's literally across the road from the Harvey's brewery and shop; and I have been in it when the head brewer popped in for a lunchtime tincture. That's quality control... The Best Bitter is in barrels balanced on the back of the bar, with swaddling so it doesn't get too... More

We visited the John Harvey last weekend, and for a cold wet January Saturday night it was fairly busy. The food and the ale was very good, with all four of our meals top notch. The rabbit and leak pie was very good indeed, and if you choose to eat in the bar area instead of the restaurant, then the atmosphere is superb. The folk... Have visited this pub on numerous occasions. Always good food, good atmosphere. The menu is very good, ranges from sandwiches to game dishes. All tasty and priced well. Obviously the beer is amazing too!
