An oasis of joy in St Leonards

This was a great find. Friendly staff with that style of service that makes me think of the Quality Chop House, Farringdon in the 90s. A very varied menu with plenty of fish and seafood and some unusual nibles like saute puffball which was delicious. I had halibut which was perfect and for starter... read more

I had a pickled sardine "nibble" that was out of this world, then a beef salad starter, a Rye Bay scallops main course, and then panna cotta. All beautifully presented and delicious. Service is friendly, competent and down-to-earth. London-calibre food without the urgency, noise and pretentiousness.

I had not been to this restaurant before so was worried it might be a bit of a risk going there for a birthday lunch but I need not have had any qualms. All of those in our party had a really delicious meal, all opting for various fish dishes. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented, the waiting staff attentive... More

Hidden away in a quiet St. Leonard's back street St. Clements boasted a view of Hastings Castle. The waitress was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. Scallops for starter were served with a delicious lemongrass sauce. The main, Spanish stew, had a real depth of flavour. 1914 IPA beer was the perfect accompaniment. Highly commended.

What a nice surprise, had not visited St Clements for a long time, but had heard so many good reports that we decided to try it again. The food was excellent and the service was great. It has got to be one of the best places to eat in Hastings, we will definitely be going back again.

I was hugely impressed with the quality of food at St. Clement's. In fact I'd go as far as to say that my starter of Salmon gravadlax, cured herring fillet & Hastings fishcake was one of my favourites of all time. The monkfish with mashed potatoes, creamed peas, samphire & mussels was a scrummy dish as was my wife's main... More
