Enjoyable evening with good fish and chips

We went there on the spur just before 7 pm. The restaurant was full, and we had to wait for 30 minutes for a table, which we spent in an old-fashioned boozer close by. We had a large portion of the black cod and a medium portion of scampi with chips and mushy peas. Everything was well cooked and... read more

Rang to enquiry what time this recommended restaurant closed and just made it from Central Brighton by taxi. Actually it is easily walkable from the Centre of Brighton. Right from the start it was apparent that everyone concerned with this restaurant is a true professional, able to explain where the fish were sourced and the specialities on the menu. The... More

A warm and friendly welcome as we walked through the door, speedy service (with a smile and a joke). The food was exactly right ( lovely grilled cod), and The Max Miller Memorial room to keep us occupied while we waited. Well worth a visit!

Can't think of a better place to go for a well cooked proper cod and chips - mushy peas worth a go as well.

Really nice fish and chips and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a bit on the expensive side for fish and chips but they were very enjoyable - with mushy peas!

The Huss (or Rock as I would call it) was excellent. The Chips were superb and the staff were super friendly.Yes,it is on the expensive side I guess at £10.25 for a medium Fish & Chips but the quality was great and after eating in here at 2pm I didn't eat again until 9:30,so for me it was certainly filling enough.After... Well, after reading reviews I was expecting something really good. The best thing was the staff, the waitress who served us was really nice. Maybe I have been spoilt eating fish and chips up in Whitby? But this was a let down and expensive for what you got. I've never had fish with skin left on, and the fish itself... More

Made a special jaunt here after reading so many glowing reviews. Sadly all the expectation was not matched by the food on the plate! Almost £30 for two fish and chips with bread and one side each and one soft drink each. Total tip off! The food was simply ok. Chips tasted like old potatoes, very poor. Fish was ok... More

Had a meal here with a friend. It was not bad as chippys go but I wasn't wowed either. The staff were quite forgetful about orders and food took quite a while to arrive. It wasn't particularly a taste sensation either and I'm sure there are other places which do a better fish and chips for a lot less money.
