Best Pub

Friendly, buzzy and everything that an english pub should be. Locals and visitors enjoy it here and it can be difficult to get a table so as soon as one is free take it. We often meet friends here and have a meal which is always good quality and varied. The range of drinks is also good even for a... read more

Sandie and I were on a weekend break in Brighton and I love Fullers ales. Research pointed out that the Basketmakers was a fun pub, with great atmosphere and very respectable food. And so it proved. The Fullers ales were really well kept and served. It was a Friday night and a bit of a pre-theatre crowd at 6.00 pm... More

A consistently great pub. Tucked away in the North Laines area, the Basketmakers is worth seeking out. A Traditional pub with atmosphere. The wide range of cask ales and lagers should please almost everyone. Warm and friendly but it can get very busy and is tight for seating space.

Firstly, the positives. Great selection of beers and the 2 different ones I had were in great condition. The fish I ordered was tasty with nice crunchy batter and no stinginess in the portion size. Also, the prices were no worse than I was expecting down in the Deep South, probably a bit better - beer was from £3.60 and... More

Traditional local bar with great choice of food and local ales and ciders. Always busy especially weekends but worth the wait for a table. Food menu is of the honest pub grub variety freshly prepared and healthy portions. Take a look in the tins all over the walls where visitors leave notes and messages which can be fun to read... In a city full of outstanding pubs, this is still consistently the best. Superb atmosphere, perfectly kept beers and great value food. One of a dying breed - a true gem!

I visit this pub for lunch on a fairly regular basis. Very impressed at how it has managed to retain what i would call a good old fashioned pub atmosphere over the years without being dated. it gets quite crowded but the service is usually prompt and there is always a range of well kept cask ales available. The Fullers... More
