Looking for lunch and came here as do food all day. I like the pub for a drink anyway but had not eaten here before. Well, I had Sea Bass fillet with ginger strips, crushed potatoes and a tossed salad which contained sun dried tomatoes. Absolutely superb. Only £9.95 as well.

Now here's the thing...... Trip Advisor reviews are a very personal thing. Sometimes we wake up feeling all's well with the world and then again, sometimes we get up and you just know that anything that's going to Pee you off will. Now Anne F, sounds to me like your Sunday was not up there on your all time high... More

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review. I usually just shrug and don't go back. Went yesterday on the recommendations here. Very disappointed. The House wine is £15+ a bottle and we had to ask - it's not on the wine menu. They brought our roasts separately (about 5 minutes apart). I ate... More

Best pub in Brighton... I had the roast today and it was delicious, everything was cooked well and the roast potatoes were done so well, proper Yorkshire puddings (no packet crap) service was great. An all round top pub for food and beer.

I've been visiting the Basketmakers for years and have always enjoyed everything about it, it's a fantastically homely welcoming environment. However today my partner and I ordered two pork roasts and oh dear they were poor, the accompaniments were fine but the pork no, extremely over cooked on the outside and barely in the middle. We informed the nice fella... More

The Basketmakers has a good selection of Real Ales something which first attracted us here. Excellent bar staff who always seem to be happy and greet, and ackowledge you, as you wait to be served (other bars please take note). We visited at lunchtime which made it a bit busy but our food came in good time - tasty classic... More

I recently visited this pub having heard good things about the food. I had a roast and a cheeseboard. The timing of the food delivery was not good. The cheeseboard was fine but the roast was disappointing. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt, the meat was very chewy and the vegetables were undercooked. I don't understand how this pub has won... firstly i would like to say how genuinly sorry i am you had a bad visit to the basketmakers, but i think your review is unfair, firstly the timing, you ordered your roast and cheeseboard during a busy lunch then ten minutes in when we had almost completed your order you added another on the order, which meant we had to redo... The basket makers is a bit of a legend in Brighton, a good trad pub that is still going. Serving good ales and always busy. I've been going for years, not as a regular, but would pop in whenever passing. Decided to have a bit of dinner recently and couldn't have been more disappointed. The quality of the food was... More

Spent a day shopping at Brighton and was aware this pub had a good reputation for food - what a great place to eat and drink. Very busy, absolutely buzzing, excellent food and reasonably priced wine. Certainly worth a try
