Lovely little real pub

Visited here on a mid week for lunch. Had passed many times and always looked busy. I can see why now, a nice interior which is well decorated and very good beer. Staff were good and welcoming and sever us with some excellent Fuller's beer. Had a fish finger sandwich from their lunch menu, which... read more

I can understand why this pub is so popular, it serves good beer and pub classics, has lots of interesting decor and is full of atmosphere and character. Needless to say, when I went there with a friend on a Saturday lunchtime it was packed....but I'm glad we waited as the beer and food were excellent.

Visited here with family who were visiting as it was suggested to us as a great small pub. We weren't disappointed. Good selection of drinks and good food. Service was slightly slow but they were busy. The whitebait was particularly good and a large portion! Will certainly return soon, maybe on a quieter day!

My son, who lives in Brighton and frequents a great number of pubs and restaurants, tells me that this is his favourite pub. Having been there with him, I can see why. When we entered, on a chilly Sunday lunchtime in December, the place was packed to the rafters, but everyone was eating lunch, perched on chairs, tables, in corners... More

Had a fantastic meal in this cosy traditional pub, service was great and the food outstanding. Great selection, and good beers.

The venue is fairly cosy but feels very traditional. They have a vast selection of Whiskeys which really appealed to me and I didn't expect it. The staff were really friendly but it was fairly pricey.

I went with my brother in law for a pre Christmas beer, the original plan was to visit three pubs, but we did not make the other two. We arrived just after 1pm on Wednesday and it was standing room only, though after a few inured we did get a small table. The pub has a very traditional feel to... More

Popped in yesterday with friends and was impressed. A great pub with all the trimmings. Beer was good. Surroundings were exactly what they should be. Well worth a visit.

In the late 70s this was Brighton's premier biker's pub. The owners kept pushing excellent lunchtime food, but the regulars stuck to Gales HSB, and the occasional lurker - a half of HSB topped up with a bottle of Prize Old barley wine; if the Prize Old was on form it poured like toffee, leaving a sticky string behind it.... We've had a drink in this place several times but never eaten as it's usually too busy. However, after the many good reviews both here and from friends we gave it a try. Not bad and not over priced like a lot of restaurant pubs. I wouldn't describe the food as exceptional, but ok for what we had for the... More
