Description: This classically kooky, Tokyo-esque Japanese restaurant and delicatessen on the New Road in Brighton is the brainchild of acclaimed chef Mike Dodd and DJ Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. With a minimialist, contemporary interior featuring handmade oak furniture, caliigraphy clad lanterns and an exclusive soundtrack tailor made by Cook, Oki-Nami has become a hit with local sushi connoisseurs, hipsters and Japanophiles. Located near the Theatre Royal opposite the Pavillion Gardens, Oki-Nami restaurant is renowned for its award-winning sushi; Japanese tapas; main courses such as the Suzuki Saffron sea bass served with a citrus sauce; desserts including the restaurant's famous green tea ice cream; and east-meets-west cocktails such as the Japanese Cherry Blossom Margarita.

Been here many times with dates, friends, and got take out on my own. The big two for sushi in Brighton are Oki Nami and Moshi Moshi (which I think is Moshimo now). The sushi at Oki Nami is better, and the service is more personal and attentive. It loses out on atmosphere and presentation. For some reason there's rarely... More

My partner and I visited relatively early on a Saturday evening to find a restaurant with a few small tables filled. We were quickly seated, but unfortunately the service went downhill from here. We quickly ordered the mixed sashimi to start with and a bottle of house wine, waited for 15 minutes only to have to remind the waitress that... More

A Saturday lunch saw myself and a friend land here looking to catch up and celebrate a birthday. Both lovers of Japanese food but with with partners who aren't fans we were looking forward to be off the leash. Booking for Saturday lunch was completely unnecessary and we were alone in the restaurant @ 1 pm & for some time... More

We were very impressed with the food here; it was delicious! We were in a hurry as were on our way to see a show at The Dome (very handy, just 1 minutes walk away), but we were seated, served and sorted in just over an hour, without feeling rushed. The pork dumpling starter is highly recommended!

Don't give this place a miss if you intend eating out in Brighton. Good food and really friendly service. Can't find a fault with this restaurant even if you tried.

Food was bland. We had teriyaki chicken and salmon and it was unimpressive, plus the portions were small. As we were still hungry I ordered seafood tempura at about £9. Well, it consisted of 2 prawns, 2 tiny squid rings and a couple of vegetables- and it isn't fine dining! Overpriced, average food. We won't be back

Norman ‘Fatboy Slim’ Cook should be embarrassed to have his name on this place. The service is shoddy, slow and disinterested, and waiters spilt our sake before it reached the table, forgot about my allergy request, and had to be asked to bring soy sauce to us during the course of the meal. The miso soup is evidently from a... More

Had dinner here last night and the food was out of this world. Great survive and the owner is really friendly. If you like Japanese food this is the place to go. Will be eating here again and again. Plus the cocktail bar upstairs was delightful.

Had a super evening on Friday night, eight of us celebrating my sons 30th birthday & his girlfriends. The food was excellent as was the service. For starters (to name a few) we had Tempura, Sirloin Steak Skewers, I had the Sushi & Sashimi (excellent). For mains we had Salmon Teriyaki, Gyu Wafu Teri (steak), Chilli Beef Noodles, Yakisoba (delicious),... More

Lovely fresh ingredients. Spicy grilled tuna skewer not to be missed. Service a bit brusque, but overall definitely worth a visit. Very thoughtful food that was beautifully presented...
