Recently awarded the accolade of "Best Tea & Cakes in Brighton" (Brighton Source Magazine), Blackbird Tea Rooms with its quintessentially English traditional style, has become the favourite retreat of lovers of good old fashioned quality and service. In addition to our traditional tea and cakes we also have a wide selection great breakfast and lunch dishes (see website for menu). We are very busy all day both Saturday & Sunday and therefore are unable to take reservations for the weekends (sorry).

Left standing downstairs for over 10 minutes while a table was cleared upstairs. Tea was too weak. We were not given cake knives. We asked for more hot water, which they forgot to bring. Poor vegan choices. Chipped crockery. Someone asked me if everything was ok and I explained the above, she said it was because new staff were being... More

Before heading home, I wanted to wander around and have an hour or so to myself, I stopped for a cup of tea at The Blackbird tea rooms, and had one of the most refreshing cups of tea I have had in a while. Thank you, you made my couple of hours to myself, perfect.

To live the full experience of a typically 19th-century British tea with scrumptious home-made pastries and sandwiches in a nicely-decorated room or a quaint and quiet back garden, this is THE place to go! To top it all the staff is welcoming and friendly!

Wonderful quirky property with excellent cakes, teas, coffees etc. My friend the Canadian/Italian loved it - he's a tea geek - so high praise indeed.

Went there for breakfast this tuesday. The food was amazing at the best value I've ever seen in town with their half off breakfast and free tea. I had rose and hibiscus tea and it was great ! My soft boiled eggs were cooked to perfection and served with fresh bread from the Flour Pot Bakery. The staff was lovely... More

Traditional afternoon tea in a traditionally fashioned tea room - oh what a treat, we thought. We thought, oh, cucumber sandwiches, perhaps egg mayonnaise, small Victoria sponges, you know, traditional. We were given four overly sweet brie and cranberry sandwiches and two salmon sandwiches, and then piles of fluorescent coloured, sickening, tasteless cakes such as brownies, macaroons, mango and passion... Small restaurant in one of the side roads in down town Brighton. We have had a wonderful lunch, even gluten free and vegetarian. Downstairs and upstairs a few tables. Toilet in the garden :-) Luckily it didn't rain. Choccywoccydoodaah round the corner. Friendly people too

We visited for lunch on Saturday whilst visiting friends in Brighton. The tearooms were very busy but we managed to get a table downstairs. We ordered a cream tea and 'the greedy sandwich'. The scone-'cream tea' arrived first and we waited for the sandwich for about 20 minutes. The food was average. Whilst we waited we could hear the waitresses... More

We walked around Laines for looking for some place for breakfast. When I ran into Blackbird, it rings a bell. It was nice atmosphere inside. We had eggs benedict and Blackbird Rarebit - Welsh rarebit with Portobello mushrooms & soft Duck Egg. It was may first Welsh rarebit experience and I loved it.
