Recently awarded the accolade of "Best Tea & Cakes in Brighton" (Brighton Source Magazine), Blackbird Tea Rooms with its quintessentially English traditional style, has become the favourite retreat of lovers of good old fashioned quality and service. In addition to our traditional tea and cakes we also have a wide selection great breakfast and lunch dishes (see website for menu). We are very busy all day both Saturday & Sunday and therefore are unable to take reservations for the weekends (sorry).

Best Carrot Cake in Years

Quaint tiny little tea room, with even tinier patio which quickly fills to capacity on the weekend. The carrot cake truly was the best I have enjoyed in years. Frosting was delicious, should have been thicker between the 2 layers, though.

I visit this tea-room every time I stay in Brighton and have many happy eating memories of the place! But not any more. On my most recent visit, i was with a companion whom I wanted to spend quiet time with - the ground floor was packed apart from one table nearest the counter so I asked if we could... More

Lovely afternoon tea in a very quaint place. Taken back in tea. The staff were very pleasant and polite. The Scones and cream were to die for :-). There was so much to eat, we ended up taking half of it home. We would highly recommend this tea room. Thank you

We have been to Blackbird a few times for afternoon tea now, but this time it's really hone down hill. The scones were not cooked properly, the clotted cream had been frozen and defrosted to the point it just crumbled when you spread it. Three of us had the Eggs Benedict but I have never seen such insipid thin ham.... More

Every time when we are in Brighton we visit this lovely little tea room. The cakes are all worth trying. It's a little tea room but they have also an upstairs sitting area. Combine a visit at 'the Lanes' with tea or lunch at Blackbird Tea Rooms.

This is a traditional tea room in the lanes. Very small, but quaint & you feel like you've stepped back in time. The coffee was to die for, & scone even more so with clotted cream & jam. Waitresses very nice & chatty but o.t.t. What we didn't manage to eat was boxed up to take away...nice. Toilet is out... More

Came back to Brighton after 10 years and found in little tea room in The Lanes, paid a visit and already fall in love with it. Stunning atmosphere with lovely little backyard for a nice summer day. Delicious scone and cake coupling with good range of tea. Wish it was here when I lived there.

Just arrived back to rain in my home town coming from glorious sunshine in Brighton and this was the last stop made. Beautiful little tea shop with awesome looking cakes although couldn't be tempted with my hangover..! Had a great latte with a 'smashed avocado bacon feta and poached egg' breakfast, it was smashed! Great food sitting in the little... More
