Recently awarded the accolade of "Best Tea & Cakes in Brighton" (Brighton Source Magazine), Blackbird Tea Rooms with its quintessentially English traditional style, has become the favourite retreat of lovers of good old fashioned quality and service. In addition to our traditional tea and cakes we also have a wide selection great breakfast and lunch dishes (see website for menu). We are very busy all day both Saturday & Sunday and therefore are unable to take reservations for the weekends (sorry).

Proper traditional afternoon tea

Went for a friends birthday ( group of 8 ) we sat upstairs - which I've never sat in before, normally I stay downstairs. The decor is old Victorian shabby chick but comfortable. What I also love is all of the photos hanging are not random strangers - but indeed relatives of the owner, which is... read more

I won a voucher for afternoon tea which I would highly recommend trying out. The homemade scones were amazing as were the other selection of cakes. The tea room is small but perfectly formed and I would also recommend the sausage sandwich !

Came across this small, quaint tearoom walking the Laines of Brighton for a breakfast spot on marathon day. Decor is perfect for vintage lovers if not small and tables somewhat crammed together on the first floor (there is an upstairs seating area which I didn't get to see). We were lucky to have a table in the window which meant... More

Like going back in time. Fantastic old fashioned typical English tea rooms. We were lucky to get table upstairs (with white table cloth etc) They were busy, service very poor & slow. Waited ages to get menu, even longer to order. Tea was lovely but forget to give us strainer or cutlery! Scones were very dry & flakey, cream &... More

Resonably priced although was a little surprised that the scones cam out a good 10mins before the sandwiches and other bits. It was so busy and sat by the door it was a bit of a distraction with other groups of customers waiting for tables looking at me whilst i eat so felt rushed once the food did arrive. But... More

Came here a few times and always had a good tea session. The teas are nice and worth trying. For their food, i have had their bacon and french toast most of the time. it is nicely done and makes you wanting more. Lovely atmosphere, with good service. Worth the visit when you are in brighton. =)

I went here a couple of months ago, and the food was very good. I was too early for the tea so had the breakfast, very good and a decent price as well! Only criticism would be that perhaps the tables are a little crowded together. But for what it is, I had a pleasurable experience.

I came here a few times, and I was more than satisfied every time I visited. The afternoon tea is definitely worth the price, the wide selection of teas makes it possible for everyone to have a good time and the decor is on the spot. Even though the waitress mixed up the pots of tea last time I visited,... More

Right location, right size and at the right price! Was too early for "tea time" then but their breakfast selection is excellent! Only advice would be to dress up so you can take nice pictures there! Toilet is cute too.
