Coffee is great... cakes are delicious. The decoration is unusual but very nice... I like different things. If you are in Brighton and want to drink a coffee, tea or a real mint tea... that's the place to go.

This place tries way too hard to be funky and not nearly hard enough to provide any kind of service or quality. It fails miserably on both counts. The staff are rude and arrogant and mope around behaving like sulky teenagers with hangovers. They appear to actually be pushing middle age, which makes the arrogant attitude even harder to understand... More

As I wrote in the title, Marwood serve by far one of the best coffe in the town. If you just came in town and want to discover the pure taste, smell and atmosphere of it, this is the place. Crazy decorations, crazy stuff, you'll feel like in some other dimension. Brighton at it's finest! :)

It's actually ok. The decors shabby which I like. The staff are just young I guess. When you've reached my age you can see through that. It's not posh. Can be Australian/kiwi/Trustafarian heavy.

I was introduced to Marwood by a friend as he said they serve great coffee, which they do, but it also has an atmosphere like no other. You're surrounded by the weirdest decorations, from movie memorabilia to bits of early computers, the music selection is always an experience and the staff are entertaining. In addition to great coffee they serve... More

Before I get onto the staff / atmosphere / clientèle let's cover some technicalities. They forgot to serve my black americano. It was left on the side. It was served to me just about warm with sugar I hadn't asked for. I was told I'd be charged for abother if I wanted one. The staff were apalling. The kind of... More

Individual; quirky; FAB pastries and cakes and very good coffee. Plenty to look at for the interior; and nice garden area out back. Good selection of juices too. LOVE the carrot cake.

Interesting, quirky & cool little place where we had a great coffee & cake experience. Staff nice enough but could be a little warmer & friendlier even if it is 30 mins before closing ;-)

Feels like home. Lovely, friendly people, great coffee, good gigs and stays open late. Brighton is less boring thanks to Marwood.

A friend of mine took me to this great little café in Brighton adjacent to the lanes. This is a café with attitude with fun if not slightly scary notices on the door about the clientele they don’t want. The coffee is a very high standard described as “kick xxx coffee” by the proprietor there is a range of great... More
