Description: THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN TRADITIONAL HOME COOKED GUJARATI AND OTHER...
THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN TRADITIONAL HOME COOKED GUJARATI AND OTHER INDIAN REGIONAL FOOD. We began selling our home cooked food from our grocery shop in Lewes. The reaction was so positive that it inspired us to sell fresh, as well as frozen food throughout shops in Sussex and Surrey. We expanded the business and moved to Station Street in Lewes. Further success inspired us to open CHAULA'S INDIAN RESTAURANT IN LEWES 2007 AND IN BRIGHTON 2012. We believe that Indian cuisine is a combination of subtle taste. Flavours are as varied as the climate and exotic as the people of India. The appreciation of spices and combination is an acquired art and can only be achieved after many, many years of studied blending, cooking and tasting. At Chaula's, value our patron's opinions and concerns in the modern day world of health consciousness- our scrumptious food is prepared only with Sunflower Oil that is low cholesterol and freshly ground spices, without the use of artificial flavours and colourings. WE ONLY USE FRESH CHICKEN AND MEAT. I have worked very hard to perfect this fine art without compromising on taste and authenticity. We are confident that after sampling our culinary delights you would agree that there is nothing but the best at Chaula's. We take pride in welcoming you again and again. WE ARE RENOWNED FOR OUR SIGNATURE DISHES. "THE FOOD OF INDIA, NOT JUST INDIAN FOOD" We hope you enjoy the experience. -CHAULA & JANAK

Not a great start but came good in the end

Went for a early dinner and where the first ones there. Reall nice welcome and given the choice of whatever table we wanted. Got a table by the window and made our selections. The popadoms that where brought over where, to be quite honest with you, a little dissapointing in the they felt warmed up... read more

I went here on Sunday evening with a friend, having heard good things about the Lewes branch of Chaula's. Suffice to say we were not disappointed. After a starter of pappadoms and chutneys, we went for the thali - I had the meat, my friend had the vegetarian one. Both were huge and really tasty. You get a starter, mains,... More

I love Indian food and especially set meals AKA Thalis. Whenever I'm in a new city, I google 'thali' and see what pops up. In Brighton the google search brought me to East street. On my first night I visited Indian Summer just across East street from Chaula's, but was disappointed with the quality of their Thali and the price... More

Chaula's website claims they want you to come back asking for more. Really? I don't believe it. Following a cool reception, by Front of House, we received a Chaula's special poppadum - sprinkled with onion and tomato. Soggy. Why would you do that? Bhel puri obviously assembled in advance and left sitting, the flavours ruined by more sogginess. Asked what... More

I was in Brighton over the weekend and our friends took us out for lunch at Chaula’s. I am very critical of Indian restaurant because I always find the name is Indian but food either Pakistani or Bengali but food at Chaula's was truly authentic. I had the non-veg Thali, its was fantastic! The service was slow because the food... More

Excellent service, starters were great lamb tika, prawn puri, hot Samos, chicken Tikal, all four main meals were grat and hot, very busy and noisy but ok, again not cheap but worth the cost

Excellent service and a delicious Indian menu featuring some quite unusual dishes and even Indian wine! Vegan and GF dishes all clearly marked. Some customers complain about the slow service but the menu does warn that all food is freshly prepared and to expect to wait. I would rather this than have something out of the freezer! Very close to... More

First visit to Chaula's. Saturday night and it got really busy. The staff were all very friendly, and the service was quick. We really enjoyed our meal, very tasty and nothing to complain about.

My husband and I dined here one midweek evening in December. It was nice to see such a varied menu and somewhat different to what we're use to seeing in the Indian restaurant we usually dine at closer to home. I ordered the Non-Veg Thalia which I thoroughly enjoyed. The lime chutney was also delicious. The menu was reasonably priced... More
