Description: THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN TRADITIONAL HOME COOKED GUJARATI AND OTHER...
THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN TRADITIONAL HOME COOKED GUJARATI AND OTHER INDIAN REGIONAL FOOD. We began selling our home cooked food from our grocery shop in Lewes. The reaction was so positive that it inspired us to sell fresh, as well as frozen food throughout shops in Sussex and Surrey. We expanded the business and moved to Station Street in Lewes. Further success inspired us to open CHAULA'S INDIAN RESTAURANT IN LEWES 2007 AND IN BRIGHTON 2012. We believe that Indian cuisine is a combination of subtle taste. Flavours are as varied as the climate and exotic as the people of India. The appreciation of spices and combination is an acquired art and can only be achieved after many, many years of studied blending, cooking and tasting. At Chaula's, value our patron's opinions and concerns in the modern day world of health consciousness- our scrumptious food is prepared only with Sunflower Oil that is low cholesterol and freshly ground spices, without the use of artificial flavours and colourings. WE ONLY USE FRESH CHICKEN AND MEAT. I have worked very hard to perfect this fine art without compromising on taste and authenticity. We are confident that after sampling our culinary delights you would agree that there is nothing but the best at Chaula's. We take pride in welcoming you again and again. WE ARE RENOWNED FOR OUR SIGNATURE DISHES. "THE FOOD OF INDIA, NOT JUST INDIAN FOOD" We hope you enjoy the experience. -CHAULA & JANAK

Fantastic find

I don't know Brighton but was staying for a conference and looking for something other than fish and chips when i came across this restaurant. The staff were lovely. The food wasn't what Im used to but was great. No sloppy sauces! Would definitely eat here again

Last Saturday evening I took my mother and brother here for a family curry nite, and it did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is excellent, offering different more unusual dishes as well as curry favourites. Our food was presented in style and so fresh and delicious and must mention two dishes that were outstanding, the sag aloo... Really nice and good value Indian food which does taste different (in a nice way) from run-of-the-mill curry houses. Nice light textured Nan breads. Very friendly serving staff and reasonably priced.

Decor and people seem very nice but overall I'm not rushing to go back. I had a chicken special curry with naan. Curry seemed so intense/paste like.. almost like they forgot to add something like coconut milk or creamto it. Unsure but we was feeling very poorly for a few days after.

I had a large Masala Dosa here 1 day and Naan with Kofta curry another day. The Dosa filling was good but the dosa outer covering wasn't as crisp as it should be. I always like Malai Kofta curries with a creamy, almond white base. However, this one was the red, masala one that goes with other paneer dishes as... More

I asked for a Masala Dosa but was informed that it was not available that day. It seems that a pre-order the prior day is needed to make sure that Dosa is available on menu. So, I took the Vegetarian Thali which I found to be average. While it was filling to an extent, the curries seemed a bit bland... More

I usually go to Chaulas other restaurant in Lewes (see my other review for there) because....I live in Lewes! But I have ventured to the Brighton restaurant on quite a few occasions and the standard is as high as in Lewes, as is the atmosphere and feel. Great variety of authentic indian food, catering well for those wanting something other... More

Thought I would try this place out as it seemed to have good reviews and I wasn't disappointed at all, The food was very very nice and presented well. Very tasty meal indeed. Brighton isn't short of Indians, but I would definitely come here again. The only downside is that drinks are a fraction pricey but not outragous
