Cheerful, laid back Italian

Had a lovely experience at Caffe Aldo, staff were friendly and not too pushy - they didn't come and check on us every two minutes, brilliant. They accommodated a child's main portion for me (so I didn't feel too guilty about starter and dessert!) which was fantastic, too many places are funny about... read more

There are plenty of trendy places in the North Laine where small portions don't come cheap but Cafe Aldo bucks this trend. Good quality, freshly prepared decent food. Often take friends there - the calazone pizza or steak are particular favourites. Service is always very friendly & there's always a great atmosphere in there. Bring Your Own wine is a... More

We often order food to take away here, with the pizza becoming our local T/A favourite. On this occasion we decided to eat in, and were not disappointed! The pasta is fantastic!! I had the cannelloni, and couldn't get enough of it, my mum had the chicken parmigiana, and said it was the best she had ever had! Salad was... More

So disappointed with the experience of not only the food served at Cafe Aldo but also the service received. We stumbled across Cafe Aldo, looking for a brunch and after having a look at the menu we thought it sounded the perfect place for a quick bite to eat. However, the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and red onion that I... More

We called in here for a full cooked breakfast one morning after discovering that our hotel's breakfast was bloody awful. I was hungry and in a bad mood after trapsing the streets for over an hour looking for somewhere that did a big full english. Initially thought it was too expensive at over £5, but I was too hungry to... More

Nice place, very good food and very helpful staff! But we had a very bad experience with the extractor fan system of the open kitchen! Our clothes smelled a lot even if we stayed for just half an hour! Thank God Brighton is a very windy city! :-)

We are regulars here, and are never disappointed. This is a REAL Italian style cafe, the dishes have that hearty authentic feel and you won't leave hungry. Excellent value, good humour and friendly atmosphere.

I very much enjoy the wonderful food and great service at Aldo's. Everybody is greeted by the chef from his open kitchen. The spaghetti carbonara is especially good with lasagne a close second. All food freshly cooked in very quick time. Lovely staff and a fun lunchtime venue. Please only visit after 12:45 after I've left!

To be honest, I was not expecting much when we went in. It was empty, and a laminated menu are not usually good signs. Don't let that put you off - this place offer excellent, tasty food. The simple menu, which is cooked in open view is exactly what a cafe Italian should be doing - making tasty food without... More

Great Italian food at very good value. Been here several times and always impressed both the pizzas and the foccacia burgers are excellent. I've not had the pasta but my friend did and said it was great.
