Having lived in the city for 20 years, I'm used to businesses changing hands on a fairly regular basis. After reading such good reviews on pizza at Chequers, I could not wait to give it a try. Unfortunately it was a rather disappointing experience. The pizzas' topping was really tasty but the pizzas were served only half-cooked and we did not manage to eat them all.. I do trust this was an accident and I still enjoyed the athmosphere... More

We used a Living Social deal to eat two delicious Pizzas accompanied by drinks. We were welcomed warmly and impressed by the balance struck between a traditional pub feel and more trendy bar. Everyone was relaxed, chatty and you felt completely at home. There was a variety of pizzas and other light dishes on the menu and I can honestly... More

Don't let the size fool you, this little bar was the group favorite during our stay in Brighton. The pizza is amazing and we decided to eat lunch at Chequers two days in a row. We will go back in an instant if we ever get another chance! One pizza easily feeds two people and is half the cost you... More

I had a great night at Chequers. It had all the elements I needed to ensure that I came away knowing that I`d be back again soon. The food (I had a hot roast veggie pizza) was exceptional, the staff were great fun and really welcoming. The live music was brilliant, followed by an equally excellent soul DJ. Thoroughly recommend... More

The Chequers Bar has recently been refurbished (March 2013) and has a new manager. The refurbishment is stylish and looks great; it even has an open fire. We went there for Sunday lunch. Four roast meats and a vegan roast on offer. Great portion sizes and so so tasty. The roast potatoes were to die for.

This cosy yet very freshly refurbished bub had a real fire (coal) warming our trio of seats, Brakspeare ales on tap and good coffee... rather drink a cup here than around the corner at one of the big coffee shops on Western Road. The intelligent and very helpful barman told us that he was normally chef but the day we... More
