Good

Visited as our usual favourite tapas was closed for the day. I have to say this place exceeded my expectations. Great food , typical Spanish atmosphere with lots of Spanish customers making the feel of the place even more typical of a tapas bar in Spain. Service was excellent , our waitress went... read more

I've been here a few times and every time it's been brilliant. The food is lovely, authentic Spanish tapas. I have even recommend the restaurant to a few of my Spanish friends who agreed that the food is really good. I've also once organised my boyfriends birthday there, the staff kindly brought out the cake I dropped of earlier during... More

During our three day break in Brighton, we stumbled upon this gem whilst roaming the Laines. It could be in a side street in Barcelona or an alley in some rural hillside Spanish town, such is its rustic and down to earth charm; and the food is simply superb. I'd suggest a glass of one the great Spanish white wines... More

I regularly read a couple of food bloggers in Brighton and having got chatting to them on Twitter, I ask for suggestions if I am off out in town for dinner - One of them suggested Solera. I had often walked by and thought 'I wonder what that's like?', so decided that night was the night to find out. We... More

I love Solera, it's not for everybody, it is cramped and the service is very relaxed... But this is Spain! You feel like you've been transported, service in a tapas bar in Spain is not Michelin star! It's relaxed and cosy and very welcoming, the food is good especially the meats and croquetas, if you are looking for an authentic... More

You always get friendly service, there's usually an authentic atmosphere and the house red wine is great. On our visit the tapas was patchy. Patatas bravas and pimentos padrones were good. The gambas ajillos were spoiled by overcooked cheap oil. The chorizo in red wine had been vaporised. The bread was tescos brown sliced. New chef needed.

Hi there...We would like to thank you for your positive comments on our staff. They work hard and well deserve an occasional round of applause... Now regarding the food, while we understand that taste is a purely a personal matter, there are a couple of comments of yours that are not quite accurate. The oil used for the Gambas al... More

We were looking for somewhere for a late(ish) dinner on a Tuesday night, walked past Solera and decided to go in for a meal. We had eaten there before a few times and it was ok, nothing overly special, chaotic service but nice atmosphere and lovely staff. When we walked in at 9pm we were told that the kitchen would... Hi there...I have read your post and feel obliged to apologize for what seems to have been an unpleasant experience. Nevertheless, I also feel obliged to mention a couple of things in our defense... While taste is definitely a personal manner, regarding the quality of the stiock used in the elaboration of our tapas, I'm afraid I need to point... More
