Friday night

The most amazing steaks.......sides are extra which is always a tad annoying but we're delicious. The service was excellent too. My only point would be that the tables are a little close together. Would definitely recommend and return.

Eventually found the place, in a side street. both had the Scallops to start with which were superb. then shared a 700gr Chateaubriand cooked perfectly rare with an incredibly smoky charred crust. chips, mushrooms and spinach; washed down with a very decent Malbec.

Booked online but didn't receive a confirmation so phoned restaurant and they squeezed Jean and I in which was really lucky as they were almost full. All the staff including Sophie , Alex and Georgia were first class . Scallops... More

It was our second visit to this restaurant today and it was brilliant like the first time. I booked in advance to ensure we had a table and we had a lovely table by the window. The food was excellent. My partner had steak and it was cooked as he asked. I had Monkfish and that was good. The portion... More

What a disappointment as I had visited last year with the same people and loved the food but this visit was disappointing. I had the fish special of lemon sole which was small and over cooked and cold and even with a side of spinach was not filling. the dessert was awful, it was banana mess with meringue and choc... Visited the Coal Shed on recommendations from TA, and my tailor who is a regular. Relaxed welcoming atmosphere, small seasonal menu (all ways a good sign), good wines (they will decant your red before arrival if requested). We tried the 800gms strip steak for two, with a T bone, one side fillet the other sirloin, grilled on a Josper it... More

Just returned from a delightful evening at The Coal Shed. Had a fantastic fillet steak with all the trimmings. Wonderful food, beautiful wine, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning when the opportunity arises. Looby Lou

A small cosy restaurant, the staff were very friendly and attentive which gave a good atmosphere. Starters of chicken chorizo terrine and trout rillettes were good but the terrine stood out. Great steaks cooked to order. We over ordered on the sides which are reasonably priced and quite generous portions. The beef dripping chips are the best chips I've ever... More
