Description: Having worked abroad for several years, husband and wife team Alan and Dawn Sperring returned to Brighton to find it in the grip of an enthusiasm for Indian food. They found the perfect spot in the cobbled lanes amongst the jewellery and antique shops of Meeting House Lane. The Chilli Pickle gradually but inexorably gained its reputation through word of mouth. As guests returned again and again, they knew that Brighton was ready for an authentic but distinctive experience of Indian cuisine. Gathering together an expert team of chefs with specialisms in a variety of Indian regional cuisines, the Chilli Pickle's own style became increasingly defined. After two and a half years at Meeting House Lane an unmissable opportunity came along: a move to the myhotel premises on the bustling Jubilee Square. The Chilli Pickle is now an established presence on the Brighton culinary trail, but with a constantly evolving and seasonal menu, will surprise seasoned aficionados of Indian cuisine and delight those having their first experience.

yesterday evening, 9pm, restaurant is half empty, I ask for a table for 2, and the waitress announce 1 hour waiting! Really, unacceptable, or may be a way for discrimination?

This wasn't my first visit to The Chilli Pickle, nor will it be my last. The menu set out by this restaurant is Indian culinary excellence. The dishes have been thought through to such exacting standards that the final product is a taste sensation. With each dish the house provides the relative sauces, pickles, and accompaniments. Special dishes at the... More

Busy and humming, this modern place was packed with Brighton hipsters getting their curry fix. Interesting menu - I had the Pork Momos to start - soft dumplings that were flavoursome but hardly worth the 3 chilli rating. The Bengal fish curry had a decent amount of fish, but only one large prawn and overall a rather modest portion for... More

Was recommended this Indian by the owner of the hotel. It was a wet Sunday night but the restaurant had quite a lot of customers. This is not your normal looking Indian, resembling more a trendy Mexican bar..the food was not your usual tikkas or masalas but something abit different. We choose a set menu costing £23ish which included two... More

Mostly friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Relaxed yet sophisticated decor - wooden tables, lovely metal serving plates and water cups. Great for a date as fairly informal but still candles on tables, fairy lights, quite romantic without being over the top. Went for Tuesday night dinner and it was nicely busy. Poppadums came out promptly with a selection of chutneys and... More

Had a meal here on Sunday evening, although not full we were put immediately beside one of a few tables that had people sitting and within seconds another couple were put beside us - which is one of my pet hates especially when the restaurant isn't that busy. The food is completely different to a normal Indian and is absolutely... More

We visited here on a Saturday evening. We chanced not booking a table and after being sent away for 15 minutes to have a drink in the pub next door we were lucky enough to get one. The restaurant itself is really funky and is in a really lively part of Brighton. The food was amazing! We shared the cheese... More

This is one of the best Indian places I've been to. I had "Moti Mohal Butter Chicken", which was no less than great, and I also couldn't resist their Naan bread: normally I try to avoid carbs, but this bread is worth all its calories. Chutney sauces are very good too, you can try several of them in little cups,... More
