Description: Having worked abroad for several years, husband and wife team Alan and Dawn Sperring returned to Brighton to find it in the grip of an enthusiasm for Indian food. They found the perfect spot in the cobbled lanes amongst the jewellery and antique shops of Meeting House Lane. The Chilli Pickle gradually but inexorably gained its reputation through word of mouth. As guests returned again and again, they knew that Brighton was ready for an authentic but distinctive experience of Indian cuisine. Gathering together an expert team of chefs with specialisms in a variety of Indian regional cuisines, the Chilli Pickle's own style became increasingly defined. After two and a half years at Meeting House Lane an unmissable opportunity came along: a move to the myhotel premises on the bustling Jubilee Square. The Chilli Pickle is now an established presence on the Brighton culinary trail, but with a constantly evolving and seasonal menu, will surprise seasoned aficionados of Indian cuisine and delight those having their first experience.

We came for pre-Christmas family treat, and were glad we had booked because the restaurant started filling up as soon as they opened at 6pm. Between us we tried a variety of regional dishes from India and a few from Persia - all presented simply and tasting delicious. The setting is colourful and informal, and service was friendly and helpful... More

I have a customer who keeps recommending that I go to Chilli Pickle and finally I relented- and now I am kicking myself for not going sooner! The reviews before certainly echo our experience - really friendly staff- We were undecided about what wine to choose and we were given samples to taste so we could decide- that doesnt happen... We met up with the family for a birthday meal here. Loved the restaurant, warm elcoming and sparkly on a cold December evening. Lovely helpful staff, and delicious food! Beautifully served and lots of unusual and interesting dishes. Very special evening. We even discovered we could pre book parking space 5 minutes walk away in the local NCP theatre car... More

This is an excellent place for a group to meet and chat. The range of Thali was excellent and I think we all had a different one. I opted for the mutton curry – and well I’ve not tasted mutton that good since touring in South Africa. Everyone agreed it’s a must go back to sort of place. Service was... More

This restaurant never fails to deliver top quality food. I've eaten both in the restaurant and I've ordered their takeaway. I saw this restaurant recommended in the Guardian. I love it.

This is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The setting is so cosy and ambient, you immediately feel comfortable and the staff are very welcoming. The food is unbelievably fresh and the staff know a lot about what they are serving, you can ask them anything about the dishes and they can practically tell you... More

Small menu, but packed with great dishes, it means they focus on what they offer. Busy location so service took time, but worth it - and really good staff. Worth a visit, 11 of us in out party, and positive comments from all.

Well the title says it all. When you're paying premium rates you expect something better than what we received tonight. Food tasted ok after being reheated in the microwave, but nothing special. A big let down as the restaurant is usually worth a visit.

Something like a Bombay Bistro, casual cafe style seating and decor, and well spaced between tables. Menu is very original, mainly sub-continent in origin but prepred and presented with up-market flair. Not especially expensive, but a bit more than the average curry house. Flavours of all dishes were distinctive and certainly not variations on a standard "red sauce". Definitely worth... More
