Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.

You have to love Plateau, it's all about the sharing platters which are plentiful and delicious! It's a great place for lunch with friends or even birthday gatherings. The staff are lovely, knowledgable and very friendly. You don't have to dine, you can sit at the bar, taste the wine and graze. Just perfect

We spent an amazing Saturday afternoon here during The Great Escape music festival. The bar staff were well informed on their drinks and mixed cocktails very well. We drank a Côte de Jura - Pinot Noir but didn't eat any food. The wine was fabulous. We sat on the bar on the left of the main picture, they had the... More

A very nice place, very friendly staff and nice exclusive Belgium beer. The menu is different than most restaurants, most dishes are for sharing what I like very much. The starters were very good, the main meat plateau was a bit have for our taste. Will certainly go back when I am in Brighton, but will try a different plateau.

Let us start with the basics. Plateau serves what is the best and most interesting food I have eaten in any Brighton restaurant that is currently operating; you have to go back to 1 Paston Place (austerely French) and the Black Chapati (exuberantly Franco/Indian) to find its near equal. It also has a wide and fascinating wine list, including its... More

Our first visit to Brighton definitely ended on a high note! Clearly it's always worth booking to sure that you're not disappointed. Food great, atmosphere 10/10 and a wine list that really takes on a new and fun to explore night out (maybe you want to try Martian wine?). Ha,ha!

We tried this place for lunch based on a friend's recommendation. The service was really friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was buzzing. The food was well presented and tasty. Our only slight disappointment was the small menu and smallish portions which didn't feel the greatest value for money. I would certainly recommend a visit though.
