Description: Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.

Trendy, young adult venue. The metal chairs need trendy, young adult figures to fit! Very French food - we had to ask for some translation. 4 of us went for dinner. Food is not essential to a good evening here - there seemed to be plenty of people just drinking what looked like a milky cocktail which was obviously very... More

This was my 2nd visit to Plateau - I just had to come back for another helping! I had such a great meal the first time that I stuck to the same thing this time round - the plaice, which came with mussels, lardon, chargrilled leeks, potato galette and a delicious creamy cider sauce. It was just as good the... More

Stopped in today and shared a vegetable platter with my wife. Threw in some truffled frites and a cider and it was the perfect lunch. If we had nothing else to do, it would have been the perfect place to drink wine all afternoon and people watch. Ambience was warm and service was very friendly. A sure bet!

Found through TripAdvisor. Enjoyed great food and service. I would certainly return. It's location at 'the Lanes' is an added incentive. If you find this review or any other TripAdvisor write up helps you make a decision, do give them a 'helpful vote' and encourage this great service :)

I came here with my husband and family as a treat when they came from Scotland. The food here was delicious and fresh and the wine (all organic) was so good, I didn't even get a hangover woohoo! The platters are so tasty, the smoked halibut was out of this world and the bresaola was lush. Our waitress made the... More

The sister restaurant of Mange Tout and just as excellent. A slightly upper end place but still carries the casual chic laid back atmosphere if it's contemporary. Food, drinks and service excellent. Great for couples, friends or small intimate celebrations. Not ideal for a big group.

From walking through the door to getting the bill the service and food was excellent. Chance to taste their impressive range of wine.

Stumbled on this wine bar come restaurant. Great meat platters, creatively presented. Good cocktails. Fun atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Brighton.

Located opposite the town hall this buzzy bar is a great restaurant too. Shared starters a must. Great steaks and giant stacked chips done to perfection. There is a quieter upper floor if you don't want the buzz.

The restaurant has big windows that open continental style in the summer- really relaxed atmosphere- brill cocktail menu. The sharing platters of food were really tasty. Staff were knowledgeable about food and great hosts
