Located just a short walk from Seven Dials, the Chimney House offers something for everyone from a cup of tea and a slice of cake, pint of Harveys, glass of prosecco, dirty little burger or a relaxed three course meal. We strive to source our ingredients from within Sussex with fish from Shoreham and Newhaven, fruit and vegetables from local farms and glasshouses as well as meat from Garlic Wood Farm. We are open all day Tuesday to Sunday and look forward to seeing you even if its just for a jar of chutney.

EASTER roast

Been trying to get in here on a Sunday for a while and so glad we got a table. Our roasts were very tasty although could have been hotter, but the puddings, oh yeah they were AMAZING. Will defiantly be going back to try mid week menu. Staff and atmosphere were perfect.

Went in for business meeting, ended up stopping for lunch, we ordered chicken sandwiches, simple request, easy to do well one would presume, on arriving the sandwich had a tiny piece of chicken on the edge of the bread, nothing else but butter on the rest of the bread, I only realised this as I happened to take the top... My second visit to this tucked-away establishment, I decided to stay for food, having scouted the opportunity the first time. I'd heard of their penchant for local produce, foraged leaves and rare breed meat which captured my curiosity. Much of it is organic, which always ticks my boxes. On this occasion I opted for the vegetarian platter and was blown... More

Excellent adventurous food. Easily among the best in Brighton. I've eaten here several times and the trick is to trust their judgement of the latest local seasonal food they have got in. The weirder it looks on the menu then the better it will usually be. Today's vegetarian tasting platter was a joy - pickled turnips with malt, kale fritters,... More

Escaping from Brighton centre madness for good food - we were not disappointed. The menu is awesome and the food beautifully cooked. I felt guilty that we only ordered pub standards - fish and chips and steak & chips - staples when you're never sure what the food is going to be like. Also had chicken parfait for a starter... Had roast beef - the meat was chewy and stringy, the roast potatoes tasted like they'd been recycled and reheated, and the yorkshire pudding was dry. Couldn't finish the meal. Later that evening the additional unexpected afters of an upset tummy meant I couldn't just forget it so felt I needed to warn others off. Would not recommend going here... More

Freezing cold miserable evening but The Chimney House was warm and inviting. Food was excellent, a feast of flavours and unusual ingredients. This gastropub offered better cooking than I have recently tasted in Michelin starred restaurants! Well done to the team, keep up the good work. We will definitely return.

I made the effort to visit this pub whilst visiting Brighton based on a friends request. It's a little way from the main town but that makes the pub even better (in my opinion). I was so glad I made the trip, it was well worth it. The pub has a great relaxed atmosphere serving great ales and largers. The... More

I'm biased because it's my local, but after a few turbulent years this lovely gastro-pub has settled down with it's now established 'owner' Charlie - great chef and head of a lovely team of staff that makes this pub feel like a real local, and yet serves outstanding food with a clientele arriving from across Brighton and beyond. It's so... More
