Positives: They welcome dogs. The staff were friendly enough despite the Sunday crowds. Buzzy atmosphere. Negatives: No veggie roast option. Pork roast came without yorkshire pud - when I asked why everyone around me had one, i was told "you have to ask for them specially if you are not eating beef" - hardly anyone was eating beef but they... My partner and I came to this restaurant on a Wednesday evening in February. We were here to celebrate a new job so happy to push the boat out. All in all it was a wonderful evening - the service was attentive and warm, without any fuss or attitude. The waiter was happy to let us taste a couple of... More

original menu, with good range of semi-traditional dishes with a twist. I can recommend the beef cheek and mushroom pie, which was the proper pastry-all-round version and not the usual puff-on-top nonsense. Dessert list was also quirky, very nice rhubarb crumble. Service friendly and unobtrusive Good wine list, decor fairly plain and slight lack of romantic ambiance but generally a... More

My second visit to the Ginger Dog and again the food drinks service and ambience were all highly rated. It was a monday night so not hugely busy but still pleasant. The food menu was varied with plenty of great choices. Cocktails were yummy and very nicely presented. Wine was reasonably priced for a bottle. Only negative was that a... More

I took my partner for her birthday. Food and service was fantastic. We had three courses and I had a delicious salted caramel martini which was like a pudding in itself. My partner loved the pigeon breast starter, we both had fish which was very well cooked indeed. Waiting staff were sweet, attentive and helpful. As it got busier we... More

We went on our anniversary for a lunch and absolutely loved it. If you are a dog owner, you can bring your doggie friend with you, which is great. Service and food was fantastic. Really good selection of wines and nice and relaxed atmosphere with the open fire to keep you warm. Can't wait to try the other Gingers.

We went to the Ginger Dog for an informal dinner during January, the restaurant is close to where we live, so we do visit quite regularly. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as we have come to expect, especially the main courses which seemed to have been cooked by a different chef. The starters and desserts were wonderful, imaginative... More

From the wonderfully friendly reception, making us feel like old friends (despite the place being packed) to the totally heavenly food - this place is a joy in the heart of Kemptown in Brighton. Not only are we made welcome but Arthur (our dog) too!!! Obviously if dogs aren't your thing then there are several other restaurants in the chain... More
