Decent environment, service and ambiance but choice of food quite limited and with small portions (rather than nouvelle cuisine) it's not good value. £7 for soup in a pub is dear. Also, a tad pretentious for what it is. That said, an ok experience.

Just got back from a mothers day "treat" at the Ginger Dog. We have been there before and found it excellent. But this time there were some disappointments. There were four of us, three had the steaks( £19.50 ) expensive, but good, My wife had the Pan fried Sea Trout with "Textures of Heritage Carrots, Fregola, Alexander’s & Pernod"( £17.00).... More

Have eaten here before and the food was okay. Came recently to have dinner, kept waiting for 1/2 hr as the table was apparently not ready (even though it was obviously free from the start). On sitting, the waitress obviously couldn't care less about service, did not ask if we wanted drinks etc. To make matters worse, the table was... More

This is a family run business and is one of four of the best restaurants in Brighton & Hove. The menu is small but perfect with delicious local produce cooked with finesse and quality. I eat at these restaurants regularly and never leave feeling hungry or unhappy

Finally got to eat at the Ginger Pig, I had heard good things about the food and wasn't disappointed. It's in an old pub so there are 3 areas surrounding the bar and really quite cosy. I had the roast lamb which was pefectly cooked and very tasty and it came with all the usual trimmings. The service was friendly... More

Although the outside looks like a basic pub, the place sparkles inside, the menu changes monthly, the staff are always helpful and friendly and it gives a good rounded feeling to an experience

This was my second visit to The Ginger Dog, someone else chose, I wouldn't have! The food is underwhelming, especially for the price. My steak was very gristly, our first bottle of wine was oxidised, rillette was slimy, toast was cold. My first visit a while ago was ruined by a flavourless pumpkin risotto, yuck.

I have always wanted to eat at the Ginger Fox and never managed to do that.... but a visit to the Ginger Dog made up for this. Roaring fire, superb service and food to die for.... I am going back and intend to try the whole Ginger range.

Ate here a while ago, had their £20 steak which was way over done and at least 50% gristle. Explained this to the waitress, who was too busy chatting up the barman to pay us any attention whatsoever, and she said helpfully, 'oh steaks do get bits of gristle in from time to time'. Hmmn. Tried to ask for another... More
