Delicious food, reasonable prices

A very nice Indian restaurant in Brighton, on James street where it faces competition from a lot others. I love the curries in here as well as the soft, fresh naans. The prices are very reasonable too so one can have a nice, filling dinner without making a dent in the pocket.

It is interesting to read all the other reviews...... I have left it a couple of years to try this restaurant, only because the menu presented in the window resembled "standard run of the mill Indian". I have been 4 times in the past 3 months and have never been disappointed with the food, there are some special dishes and... More

I almost always choose Pavel for sit down, take-away or home-delivered food. When I eat curries elsewhere I inevitably regret that it's not Pavel. My favourites are the vegetable vindaloo, tarke fall and mushroom bhajee but everything's tasty and fresh. The staff are friendly and it's really good value. I highly recommend Pavel.

We met here en masse with a group of friends - more than 20 of us - and a couple of them were Indian (therefore experts on all things curry). We were meeting here as it was my fiancee's favourite eating place when she was here as a student. And the good news is - it has not slipped. It... More

I have been visiting Brighton quite frequently recently. One of my favourite places to have dinner is Pavel. This is surely one of the better Indian restaurants in Brighton. The curries are very tasty, without being oily; rice pulao is succulent and the naans are soft & fresh. The curries are not too spicy or hot, so can be relished... More

We used to eat here fairly regularly a few years ago and it was our favourite curry house in Brighton. The staff were always jolly and confident. One recession later the food is still OK and it's relatively cheap, but the portions are noticeably smaller than average. We also had to wait a long time for our meal while a... More

Nice fairly small Indian (Bangladeshi actually) with good service and excellent food. Great value for money.

Spices are fundamental to all curries and there is a huge range of spices to use, and this is what this place does really well. Intense, aromatic flavours, and smells were a welcome departure from the usual red greasy curry that has become more and more a staple since the 1980's. My partner had a medium hot dish of Chicken... I ordered a take away vegetable curry and nan bread. The vegetable curry was just cabbage and onion in a horrible sickly sauce and the nan bread was stale. Both items were inedible. The young manager (?) who took my order was incredibly rude. I would not recommend anyone eating there.
