Delicious food, reasonable prices

A very nice Indian restaurant in Brighton, on James street where it faces competition from a lot others. I love the curries in here as well as the soft, fresh naans. The prices are very reasonable too so one can have a nice, filling dinner without making a dent in the pocket.

Ordered a takeaway which turned up very quickly - too quickly for the food to have been prepared and cooked properly, from scratch as a good curry should be. Prawn puri starter was very bland and greasy - lots of prawns but no real flavour. Lamb dhansak was ok, very sweet but had good heat. However the meat was very... More

Ordered a takeaway at 7.10pm. Told it would take an hour. After an hour and a half I called and was told another 20 minutes. I called again after half an hour and was told 15 minutes at least. I suspect they hadn't even started prosessing The order. Really disappointing. We cancelled the order at 9pm. Will not bother again.... More

It is interesting to read all the other reviews...... I have left it a couple of years to try this restaurant, only because the menu presented in the window resembled "standard run of the mill Indian". I have been 4 times in the past 3 months and have never been disappointed with the food, there are some special dishes and... More

I almost always choose Pavel for sit down, take-away or home-delivered food. When I eat curries elsewhere I inevitably regret that it's not Pavel. My favourites are the vegetable vindaloo, tarke fall and mushroom bhajee but everything's tasty and fresh. The staff are friendly and it's really good value. I highly recommend Pavel.

We met here en masse with a group of friends - more than 20 of us - and a couple of them were Indian (therefore experts on all things curry). We were meeting here as it was my fiancee's favourite eating place when she was here as a student. And the good news is - it has not slipped. It... More

I have been visiting Brighton quite frequently recently. One of my favourite places to have dinner is Pavel. This is surely one of the better Indian restaurants in Brighton. The curries are very tasty, without being oily; rice pulao is succulent and the naans are soft & fresh. The curries are not too spicy or hot, so can be relished... More

We used to eat here fairly regularly a few years ago and it was our favourite curry house in Brighton. The staff were always jolly and confident. One recession later the food is still OK and it's relatively cheap, but the portions are noticeably smaller than average. We also had to wait a long time for our meal while a... More

Nice fairly small Indian (Bangladeshi actually) with good service and excellent food. Great value for money.
