Locals and foodies mix in this delightfully bright and cheerful family-friendly food pub – a hidden gem, which has remained busy and buzzy since it opened six years ago. Something of a local institution, this fabulous pub serves good honest food, prepared with skill and passion. Beautifully prepared roast meals are served on Sundays from 12 to 6pm. With superb Sussex reared meats, a vegetarian and fish option as well as small portions for children, it’s hard to find a reason not to visit.

Quick bevvy in Brighton

Traditional local pub, friendly service during the daytime; barman happy to book me cab into town. Only two others drinking here when I was there. Music good, near local shops.

Pubs are basically about atmosphere and beer. If neighbours suggest a drink in the ppt I now check during the day that there is proper beer available, if not I would rather stay at home. Obviously with current regime of "craft beers" I now just leave, do Indigo not listen. Please sell the pub back.

I really like this place since it's changed. It feels homely and more like a local pub. Don't get me wrong - the food is still expensive, but I think most pubs with good food charge restaurant prices these days. The difference here is that the food is tasty and filling. I recommend the pulled pork burger, but the menu... More

Have been several times now for lunch, the food is fantastic and priced extremely well. The waiting staff look after you and are very friendly which tops off the experience.

I appreciate this pub has changed hands but having now visited twice the food is still excellent, staff very friendly and overall ambience still very good. Last visit had a great fish dish, as my wife was away I was alone but was impressed the staff were engaging and particularly friendly. Most importantly the food is still seasonal, great selection... The new chefs have really made their mark on this place. We had Sunday lunch for 12. The meals were excellent. Despite a forgotten meal, which was professionally dealt with and prioritised, we had excellent food. The vegetables too were superbly cooked, plenty of extra gravy for those who wanted it, fabulous choice of drinks with a warm welcome and... More

Brighton is notorious for its difficult & expensive parking, however this venue on the outskirts of the city has plentiful on street metered spaces at £1- per hour. The pubs beautifully planted hanging baskets compliments the residential location. The pretty and neat walled garden is a sun trap, although it was inviting to sit outside it was a cool day... More

As a local it is disappointing that our local pub no longer our pub of choice. Ridiculous choice of un drinkable overpriced beers, expensive wines, uncomfortable stools to eat from. What is wrong with having one or two time honoured beers in amongst the sea of supposed "cool" craft beers. Decor predictable old fashioned,I would expect this in an expat bar... More

Having eaten some very poor meals recently in some much higher reviewed places in Brighton I was exceptionally impressed with the food at this pub. We ordered the sea bream and chicken main which were perfectly cooked, delicious and reasonably priced. Probably the best pub food iv had in my 4 years of living in Brighton.
