Locals and foodies mix in this delightfully bright and cheerful family-friendly food pub – a hidden gem, which has remained busy and buzzy since it opened six years ago. Something of a local institution, this fabulous pub serves good honest food, prepared with skill and passion. Beautifully prepared roast meals are served on Sundays from 12 to 6pm. With superb Sussex reared meats, a vegetarian and fish option as well as small portions for children, it’s hard to find a reason not to visit.

Miss the local touch

though the PPT isn't too bad inside, it does have the feel of a chain pub, the food is okay but expensive especially as there is a shortage of places to sit, if you don't fancy a stool. The back garden is okay, miss the herbs & strawberries they used to have, once again it's obviously a chain now... read more

Popped in last night ( Thursday ) for a meal and we both were not dissapointed at all, on arrival the place was buzzing and it was lovely and warm that matched with a lovely warm smile from the girls on the bar, we ordered our drinks and had a look at the new menu, I ordered the Scallops and... Went here twice whilst staying nearby. Great range of beers. Menu also good. Had the salmon curry with sticky rice. Others had the burgers which they would recommend. Staff young and friendly and polite. Diverse patrons. Enjoyed it so much the first time went back on another evening. Very impressed.

This was a fancy or pompous gastropub until a few months ago and it was rubbish. You really could feel the staff hated working there. The atmosphere was horrible and stuffy. It has however been taken over, painted in some traditional shads of racing green and red (I normally hate old fashioned pubs but this is so much more suited... More

We tried this again last weekend and can report we had a much better service experience. This time the servers were helpful and polite. Altogether much more enjoyable than last time.

I can't emphasise how good the Sunday roast is at this pub. I've been in Brighton for over 25 years and can tell you honestly this is one of the best ever. Make sure you order the pigs in blanket and home made stuffing. Had to ask for more gravy though but that's just my preference. I come in regularly... More

Just back from the PPT after another very nice evening. The pub was pleasantly busy with a warm friendly atmosphere. As ever, the selection of beers was excellent. My other half ordered the rosti, which was stunning, and I ordered the baked pollock - perfectly cooked and presented. We'd forgotten to order chips but a portion arrived within 4 minutes... More

Possibly the worst food I have eaten in Brighton. A plate of grease-laden inedible grunge. Poor service to boot - were we invisible as the only full table in the house or could they just not be bothered. With last orders for coffee at 21.45 no wonder the place was deserted when we left, and for me, with no intention... More

We took a group of 8 family members for dinner on Sunday. They all enjoyed their food which was delivered promptly even though the pub was very busy. We had three table pushed together and had plenty of space to eat.

We live locally and like to support local enterprises. We ate here on Saturday afternoon and the bar staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other than serviing us. I asked for a gin and slimline tonic and was given ordinary tonic. When we ordered food the server typed in a beef burger when I asked for a chicken... More
