I have been going to the melrose for many years now and our last visit on 31st August was as good as the first. They have done some redecorating and it may look a little rough around the edges but it does what it is supposed to do and that is serve excellent food, especially the crab salad, which I... More

We visit Melrose restaurant with a group of friends at least once a year and have an exceptional meal with the freshest fish. The owner always greets us and the service is always good. My husband always has Cod and chips as the cod is thick and white and the freshest we have had. I don't have such a big... More

We had never been to The Melrose before although we had walked past it often enough. I always looked less busy that the fish restaurant next door so we decided to give it a try. I booked a table. They were very hesitant as they were fully booked, they told us, but we got a table for 19.30. When we... More

Good service, nice wine, and food excellent. We had fillet steak and trimmings £16 each which is very reasonable. Would come here again.

I have eaten at the Melrose a few times, but my recent visit really tipped me over to writing a few words on this place. It resides on the seafront King's Road and has plenty of out door seating to enjoy great food and people watch. On first arriving at the establishment, it has the appearance of a traditional fish... Had a lovely lunch.I had crab salad which was delicious, the ctab was juicy and sweet, my sister's and mum all had fish and chips and declared on its arrival that they would never be able to eat it all, but all managed to as it was so good, crispy golden batter and succulent fresh fish. Looking forward to our next visit

Two of us went for lunch. I can't fault the service! BUT sticky tables wobbly tables. I had the fish platter and my friend had scampi, both were overcooked. We asked for tartar sauce and mayo which came in those horrible little sachets. A fish restaurant should be able to provide the appropriate sauces on the plate not in tiny... More

It was a hot evening when we visited and managed to get a table outside even though we hadn't booked, the family who run this restaurant are very friendly and the service was great, started with the mussels which were the best I have ever had in a restaurant. All the other food and drink were excellent also. It was... More

Was recommended this restaurant and the one next door (The Regency) by a colleague. Went to Brighton for a day out, and not in a hurry home so decide to have dinner before we left. Picked The Melrose as it seem to have a couple of spare tables, turned out they were reserved, but only had to wait about 5... More
