This was a memorial visit for my 94 year old Father who had not visited for 26 years and he was not disappointed, and either were we. My wife had 6 juicy oysters whilst my father and I had fish soup all were good, particularly the oysters. For mains we had three Dover soles with chips and a side order... More

The service is fast and friendly. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The presenatation of our fish and chips could have been better. We were sat next to the busy Fish and Chip restaurant called Regency wishing we had eaten there instead because we were the only people sat outside Melrose. The Fish and chips were average but to be... More

My family and I have been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years , and has always been good quality and value for money. It does not give the weekend standards that man other restaurants do. Service is good and done with a smile. If you like oysters they are the best . We come from and live in... More

Right on the seafront we stopped for a bite on the way to a concert at the Brighton Centre. Good quality fish and chips and decent value for money. Would be happy to eat here again.

Excellent fish dishes, freshly prepared and very good value for money. A fair selection of reasonably priced wines and the best apple pie I have had in a restaurant for some time. Friendly service. Small criticism - as they specialise in fish they should serve proper tartar sauce rather than sachets which are not very good and rather messy.

While on my visit to Brighton in May of this year my niece & nephew took me to dinner. Whenever I am by the sea I must have seafood so my choice was The Melrose. We chose indoor seating as it was very windy. It was a lovely experience and the fresh seafood was excellent. The staff was very friendly... More

I last went to The Melrose a couple of decades ago but one of my friends (a chef and published food author) keeps recommending it so I decided to give it another try. The staff are super friendly and helpful and seem to know a lot of the punters - this is obviously well loved by locals, despite its location.... More

Deceptively large but not too large to feel like your in a canteen. It is a homely yet historic Brighton restaurant on the seafront. Friendly & hospitable staff and wonderful menu and food for good prices.

I have been going to the melrose for many years now and our last visit on 31st August was as good as the first. They have done some redecorating and it may look a little rough around the edges but it does what it is supposed to do and that is serve excellent food, especially the crab salad, which I... More
