Good portion

I went to The Melrose because of the good reviews. I was the only table when I got in and the waitress was friendly. I ordered a fish platter. The price was reasonable and the portion was bigger than I expected, though the fish tasted a bit bland. I would have given a 4/5 for value, a 3/5 for... read more

The service was awful, I don`t know if the waitress understands clearly english language, the food was the cheapest mirelit vegetables and the most thinnest steak I`ve ever seen. I didn`t like nothing at all....

Didn't realise this restaurant would have lovely service and food since it didn't have much people in the restaurant. The waitress/waiters were really friendly and helpful and the food was top notch! However, some of my family members had to warn us about the bones but it wasn't a big deal. I also ordered desert which was also topping off... More

After having walked out of another restaurant with awful service and atmosphere before getting our food, finding this cozy seafood place saved our evening. Three of us got the fried fish and chips, which was very good, (although it did have some bones), and the portions were generous. One of us had the moussaka, which was good as well. The... More

If you are in Brighton with a hankering for superb seafood then visit The Melrose. I have to admit to being more of a meat & 2 veg person. The food was so good I visited again the very next day. I recommend The Melrose for some seafood delight.

The Melrose, on Brighton sea front next to Regency Square, does traditional fish and chips and their variations well in an old fashioned way. The service is friendly and efficient, the premises are clean and it is good value. If you are after fine dining and anything 'modern' then this may not be for you. Otherwise, go and enjoy!

We wouldn't have normally eaten here as it looks a little dated inside and out. However a local recommended it, so we thought we'd give it a go. We're so grateful we did, what a fantastic place, in terms of the food, the service, the friendly staff. If you're looking for fish and chips, you have to eat here. We'll... More

Incredible food, fair prices, and great service. They made me feel at home even though I'm thousands of miles away from my home in the States. I'm sure I'll be back at least once more before I leave Brighton.
