Description: Considered by many to be Brightons best restaurant, backed up by its status as the highest scoring local dining room in the Good Food Guide, The Restaurant at Drakes is an elegantly stylish setting for any occasion. Subtle lighting casts moody shadows across exposed brickwork and rich colours throughout the intimate dining room while Drakes cocktail bar offers airy sea views and excellent cocktails. The kitchen team insist on the best of ingredients, fresh and seasonal, including fish bought daily from local fishing boats, to create the excellent, refined menu that has earned the restaurant two AA rosettes. A special place, unpretentious in its warm atmosphere, its easy to see why The Restaurant at Drakes has such a reputation.

Booked Drakes as had read good reviews. I have to admit the first impression was not what I had been anticipating! The facade of the building is very average, and looks like very many of the other seafront properties, the second impression too of going down the staircase into the basement was not how I'd imagined the place! However, on... More

This was a romantic meal at drakes, a smallish restaurant with really good service, it meant something that the person greeting us was expecting me and didn't ask what name the table was in. There are little extras that you may expect such as an amuse bouche and truffles as the end. I would say that the lighting could be... More

I had the goats curd and parma ham salad to start, very nice. The bread was superb, especially the bacon brioche. Main course I had sea bream - delicious, and my husband had the beef and said it was the best he'd ever had, melted in the mouth. The chocolate fondant and ice cream was to die for. Good service... Have wanted to eat at Drakes for a long while. Perceivably the best restaurant in Brighton, I was somewhat shocked to find a small basement restaurant with bad lighting and outdated '90's decor (think laminate flooring and leather chairs). Way way too many tables are stuffed in to the tiny space - we were offered a table in a dark... More

Went to The Restaurant at Drakes for a meal with work, wow what an incredible venue. Atmosphere was wonderful and the decor tasteful, modern and comfortable. The food was incredible too, I had the Risotto to start, followed by the most beautiful Lamb I have ever had and finished with a rich Chocolate Fondant. Beer selection, not mainstream so was... More

My wife and I chose the tasting menu with wine selection as it was our anniversary celebration. A fantastic selection of food was presented us including a couple of extra amuse bouches. The wine matching was superb, especially the sweet wines with the cheese and dessert courses. The service was spot on with just the right amount of time given... More

A group of friends on a stag do ate here a few weeks ago and had a wonderful meal. We ate in a private room, were well looked after and the food was excellent. The starters were good but the main and desert were excellent and the wine was alos very good. Most people ordered the aged fillet and followed... More

My husband and I had a lovely meal here for our anniversary the food was beautiful, the only down side for us is that the restaurant is down stair with only two windows which face a wall and it's a shame when u could have a great view of the seafront but overall very nice xx

It had been a few months since we'd visited Drakes and I confess I'd forgotten just how good it was. On this occasion every one of my courses was a winner, from the pea soup with pheasant's egg to the sea bass to a wonderfully rich melt-in-your-mouth chocolate fondant. My husband really enjoyed the beef fillet which was cooked exactly... More
