First thing I noticed when my friends and I sat down for our Sunday lunch was that all the cutlery and glasses on our table were dirty. The little specs of sticky food residue on my fork were a real turn off, but my disappointment was soon furthered by the painfully slow service. It was half an hour before our... More

The food was ok, but not memorable at all. Service was really mediocre too. Hope this means that the main managers are on holiday and not a permanent decline

Marginally more expensive than other local offerings, but superior because cooked in a proper kitchen. Staples well done, and one or two imaginative additions. Best to get there early: as we left the one waitress (very pleasant, but not professionally trained) was starting to cope with a table of 18. And don't go too often, as the short menu never... More

Good food slightly expensive but great service. The menu is English with a hint of a french accent. And the deserts are always too much but so wanted.

Having recently bought a house in Kemptown Village (Brighton) we are really keen to support local businesses. Oh dear this is a sad let down after a number of great experiences in local restaurants. While the food itself (except for the vile dish of olives) is made from quality ingredients, well cooked and well presented, the service is truly awful.... More

The food was excellent but the service was poor and the staff obviously lacked training. The coffee was cold and was sent back but when we got the bill we had been charged for it. We have eaten at Sam's many times and this was our worst experience to date.

Stopped here for brunch on a lovely summer's day. Tucked away from the tourist chaos near the Pier, this intimate spot served up a great Eggs Benedict; the bacon served with it was cooked to perfectin as well. We happened to have the restaurant completely to ourselves (seemed odd for mid-day Saturday), but perhaps everyone was just out enjoying the... More
