Description: Located on Paston Place in the heart of Kemp Town village, Sam's of Brighton is a stone's throw from the Brighton Pier and the Marina. Sister restaurant to Sam's of Sevendials in the heart of Brighton, this chic and elegant family-owned bistro - with an understated neutral colour scheme, wooden floors and deco-inspired lamps - is popular with a fashionable local crowd. Sam's serves classic yet creative dishes made from the finest seasonal ingredients, and the restaurant's award-winning menu features favourites such as the Shetland rope-grown mussels with spiced coconut, vanilla, and red peppers; roast rabbit loin served with soft polenta and savoy cabbage; and the rice pudding with blood orange for dessert. Sam's also has an excellent selection of both old and new world wines, many available by the glass and carafe. Sam's of Brighton was voted "Runner Up BEST UK NEWCOMER" by the Harden's Guide 2010.

We had Sunday lunch for 17 here and it was excellent. Food was good and service was effecient but friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Would definitely come again.

Booked a table for two on Saturday night for our wedding anniversary. Arrived a few minutes late but wasn't a problem, we were seated at the very end of the restaurant which was, although the table was a four seater booth it was very cramped and I am tall, I asked if we could move and was shown straight away... I wanted to book somewhere for a family dinner for relatives visiting from the USA. I was given the brief- choose somewhere 'REALLY nice'- and I have to say we weren't disappointed. From the perfectly mixed G&Ts as an aperitif to the coffee and petit fours which were all we needed after a very satisfying meal, I couldn't fault any... More

Perfect polenta puree to start. Lovely main course. Delightfully different desserts. Figs were delicious. The chocolate pot had plenty of fruit. Weak point was the toilets, downstairs - any upstairs for wheelchair access? Toilet floor, door and tiles looked a bit grubby, not the sparkling white to which I am accustomed. Set meal reasonably priced. Obliging service. Wish I lived... More

3 for dinner. Great welcome, buzzy atmosphere, interesting menu. Good bottle of Vigonier at a reasonable price. The waiting staff were smiley and efficient. Food was well cooked and presented. All in all a relaxing occasion with no complaints

So, night before slightly on the heavy side, granted! Hubby had Eggs Royale - very nice, I had the fry up...but couldn't deal with the black pudding and as a south coast gal would have really appreciated some beans there instead! Nice anyways.

I know this venue well and over the years it has changed owners and staff quite a few times. We read in the local paper about this latest reincarnation with it's new chef hot from London. The last time we went was about a year ago and it was poor, so a friend and I went for Sunday lunch. We... More

Very nice looking venue but pricey food. This is a great looking venue and you could easily loose an afternoon here helped along with a couple of glasses of wine. I had the cod, which for nearly £18, was possibly the smallest filet I've ever had. The food was fine, but didn't blow me away. Also a bit peeved to... More

Many if not most restaurants in Brighton are overhyped and overpriced probably because they receives thousands of non repeat tourists a year and repeat local business is not important. I have never understood why people claim Brighton is blessed with loads of good restaurants - they are in fact few and far between. Sam's is an exception.Well worth the walk... More

I have visited Sam's twice in the past month having just moved into the area. Our first visit was late on a Sunday afternoon and having missed the rush the restaurant was quite quiet. The food was amazing! We all ate three courses and had a lovely time with some great wine! Sam made time to speak to us and... More
