Highly recommended Japanese restaurant

I really didn't want any more sushi thank you. This restaurant serves really delicious food. If you want run of the mill sushi you can have it here but if you would like something not so ricey choose a nabe where you have a meal of fish or meat in a lovely stock and when you finish they take the... read more

Excellent little Japanese restaurant. On our 3rd attempt at eating here we finally got to try it out. Wonderful dishes on the menu which were thoroughly enjoyed by myself and my boyfriend. The plum wine was a rather nice and different drink to try. A very nice setting but I imagine on a busy night it may feel a bit... More

This place used to be the best place Japanese restaurant in Brighton several years ago but unfortunately I will be staying well clear of this place now, overpriced for the food they produce and always short staffed. On my last visit I was given tempura vegetables which were very greasy and the chicken yakitori was a poor imitation of the... More

Decent food, good price, OK venue (though does feel cramped when busy). Four stars for this place, pretty bog standard and you know what you're getting.

Tasty starters however when the main course came out there was a problem. Ordered Vegetable yakisoba, menu didn't specify there was egg stir fried with it. Politely asked the waitress for a replacement. The chef/owner appeared from the kitchen extremely defensive saying we should have specified that we didn't want egg. However as it want listed in the explanation of... More

I've been to Murasaki about four times and it's always great. Homely, rather than mega posh, but all the better for it. Not too expensive and the sushi is always top class. I once had a fish stew there that was so full of deceased-but-delicious sea creatures it took me an hour to eat.

This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Brighton, not only for it's lovely food, but also it's cosy atmosphere. Unlike many other restaurants which can be noisy and feel cramped, this has just a few tables and is a really pleasant dining experience. The staff are always friendly and the service very prompt. And if that wasn't enough, the food... More

The food here is fresh, the sashimi thick and the sushi delectable. The service is given with a smile and while it may not be the cheapest sushi in town, its certainly the best that we have tried! Be sure not to head tot eh wrong restaurant though in Sevendials to collect the takeaway order like I did, as the... More

If anyone has any problems or concerns with the takeaway please don't let them go silently into the wind. Businesses don't check review sites every moment. Feel free to inform the manager or write a letter and just be polite. People react positively to polite people. Who knows, your actions may improve your next visit. What have you to lose.... More

I love Japan, and that very much includes the food...going to the country actually spoiled having Japanese food anywhere else. Then I discovered this place, absolutely great !!! Bento boxes, chicken katsu, gyoza. I tried it all, and it was not only good but surprisingly close to what I've sampled in Japan. For special occasions though, as the prices aren't... More
