Nice food, cute atmosphere

This little place is full of surprises, great food, really tasty menu and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The service was a little bit slow but it was worth the wait!

We come here around once a month and have never been disappointed. Hearty, healthy delicious Japanese food at really reasonable prices all served with a smile in a place with a fantastic atmosphere. Maybe not the most authentic Japanese food if you're a real purist, but perfect for a meal with friends or a casual date. Ikageso is a must!

Apparently under new ownership although I didn't know this when I went. Same good food, all looks the same inside. Only difference I can think of was there were different staff from my last visit. If you hear the same thing don't be put off, all the food was excellent still.

Visited Brighton for the weekend & went to this restaurant based on a recommendation. We weren't disappointed; the food was delicious, fresh & well-priced, with tasty sushi & other Japanese tapas-style delights. There was also a good selection of larger main courses but we didn't get to try those as filled up on everything else! The restaurant was busy, with... More

I've visited this place a few times and really like it. The lunchtime menu is good value. I love the crispy tofu katsu curry and the sushi and sashimi - which seem very fresh and a cut above other places I have been. Having said that, I wasn't greatly taken with the tempura which I found a bit heavy and... More

Really lovely, fresh Japanese food. The service was great, well priced. Would highly recommend. Shame the parking is so expensive but that's not their fault ;)

Only been once before at lunchtime and it was good but no atmosphere as empty, so decided to try it in the evening. I was very disappointed as I had ordered the Katsu curry and when it came it was just deep fried chicken with a little different sauce, no rice and salad and pickles or curry! I was then... More

A really lovely find. Delightfully unpretentious. i had the Bento which was terrific - lots of sashimi including mackerel, scallop, prawn (and not the cooked sort), excellent tempura including asparagus. My partner had lovely octopus balls that melted in the mouth and green beans with sesame followed by grilled mackerel. i had the cheap sake which was good value too.... More

We have eaten here before and the food is OK, but the seating is awful - very uncomfortable and cramped. The last occasion we have booked for lunch as we had to go on to the cinema. Arrived at the restaurant to find a notice pinned to the door saying that they had to close. It turned out there was... More

A great holiday in Japan 2 months ago has left me seeking the most authentic Japanese dining closer to home and Murasaki in Brighton is winning so far. A good menu selection brings together a range of typical Japanese dishes (though these would not be found all in the same place in Japan). The restaurant was impressively full on a... More
