We tried English's restaurant for a mid week meal and being a fan of seafood I was looking forward to it. My partner and I decided on the smoked salmon starter which was delicious. I had the sole which was good but not outstanding whilst my partner really enjoyed the king sized scallops. with the puddings this was reversed with... More

I have loved going to English's for many years. Took my sister and niece for my sisters birthday on a sunny Friday afternoon. Lovely table outside, live jazz singer in the background. Started with a delicious vodka martini and selected starters and main from there set menu, everyone was very happy with there meal and the waitress bought my sister... More

Rabbit terrine and beet salad for appetizers, fish cake and mackerel for entrees and a nice glass of wine before the theater hit the spot. Good service, reasonable prices and a nice setting. Outside dining available, but it was a bit noisy for us.

We normally eat regularly at The House restaurant in the same square as this restaurant. My husband is a fish lover and always wanted to try this place, so, with stepson in tow, we went. I am not a particular lover of fish so stuck to the bread and pate' and had the sole goujons and chips as a main.... More

Superlative restaurant. The best in Brighton with Riddle&Finns. Dover Sole perfectly cooked. Excellent quality in general. Fancy location and very good service. Choose the 2 course menu. Great deal. With less than £15 (beverage escl.) you eat like a Prince. The place to be

Visited this restaurant after reading Peter James's article in the Telegraph. I agree that is possibly one of the better restaurants in Brighton simply because a lot of the others are so average. Dining outside in the cosmopolitan atmosphere on a warm summer evening was delightful but what wasn't were the supercilious waiting staff, why they are like this is... More

My partner and I had read great reviews on Tripadvisor and decided we should give this restaurant a try. We were on a tight deadline and needed to be in and out within the hour. The set menu was fantastic and we chose 3 courses for £19.95 with of course and nice glass of prosecco. I did not realise that... More

It's been about six months since I was last here, but on this beautiful sunny day we knew that this restaurant had a lovely terrace. It was very nice to be greeted by the waiting staff, who instantly recognised us. Within a few minutes we had our table. The food once again excellent, scallops in a light curry sauce with... More

Spent a long weekend in Brighton and stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking around the first night for something to eat. Although very busy we found a table outside on a very warm Friday evening. There was also a local busker playing and singing blues which was a nice touch. We had fish dishes for starters and main which were... More
