A really good place to go for lunch or an after work gathering. Usually packed out as the food, the drink and the atmosphere are conducive to a relaxing time.
I arranged to come here with about 20 friends for my birthday. We were given a room upstairs. The service was great! Very personal and speedy and they were very attentive to my gluten allergy. The food was amazing! Good sized portions and every person in the party loved their food and shared with each other to try everything. The... More
arrived today very late , they still managed to find a table and the nicest roast i've had so far in England , very friendly staff , cosy atmosphere , with students , regulars and other Brightonians , very good for a sunday treat
Food was fantastic matched by the service from lovely friendly guys that own this quaint little pub. Recommend it very highly, will definitely be returning. Booking is a very good idea.
I've always liked this pub. Not as busy as some of the others in the North Laine. Food has always been good, theybalsomdo a nice organic lager brewed in Sussex. Loved the food here. Good options for vegetarians, and very tasty. A notch above typical pub food. Friendly staff too.
Glad my Brighton-native-friend chose this place to meet up. Was nice full of character like other reviews have said. The barman who served us was really friendly and down to earth. Just drinks before moving on, will defo swing by to try a meal next time I'm down here.

Lots of potential however let down by rude bar staff. The ginger guy has a big chip on his shoulder and needs to learn some manners and customer service..go to the Hope instead where they treat customers better.
