Great food!

Lovely evening spent in the Black Swan. Need to book if you want to eat in the family dining room (no under 18s in main bar - totally sensible rule. (We have kids but not all are that well behaved unfortunately!!) Lovely food and good service. Been coming here for the last 5 years or so when on... read more

We stayed 4 nights in Swanage and ended up eating here for 3 of the nights as the food was excellent. A good, varied menu with specials available. Great beer as well.

I visit Swanage at least once a year, but have only started visiting this excellent pub since 2013. The inn itself is lovely & unspoilt, steeped in olde worlde character & charm with low ceilings, exposed beams & a cosy intimate atmosphere. It's positioned at the top of the (High Street) hill, just a short distance from Swanage's famous mill... More

One of our party is a ceoliac, and has to have wheat and gluten-free food. My daughter had found this pub on the Internet prior to our visit to Swanage, and we were lucky to book a table for an evening dinner. On the evening we went, every table was reserved! Son-in law was concerned about cross-contamination, but as the... More

We turned up early and found the restaurant area to be fully booked already (it sells out fast) so we sat in the garden, which is not too bad - it's not too exposed so you don't feel the effects of the brutal Swanage wind. We had been recommended this place, so I was quite surprised that the food was... More

A lovely little pub with good food. We visited twice during our stay. The Fish and Chips was especially lovely. The cheese on the lasagne was a bit much though.........we found the garden at the back particularly inviting, and safe for young children and animals. The pub dog, Pickles, is also a great attraction and fun. One of the bar... More

The food was lovely, shame about the lack of hospitality. The mixed platter starters were a highlight and generally the main courses were very good. Unfortunately we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by a particularly unfriendly Landlady. Clearly the business is based on the food and the requirement to be pleasant to patrons is not seen as important.... More

They had good beers on and were friendly, it's quite small so you need to book a table, food was slightly above average for pub-restaurant food. I wasn't that keen on the lasagna as it had too much cheddar cheese on it for my taste. I think I made a bad choice though as my husband enjoyed his goats cheese... More
