Good choice or traditional pub food. Big portions, presentation could be improved and although the manager and bar staff were extremely friendly we did not find the waitress over friendly, you felt she definitely wanted to be somewhere else!

We had an excellent meal in the Black Swan Friday evening, although the pub was packed they managed to make room for us even though we hadn't booked. Nice choice of Real Ales as well including bottled local beers. We stayed in Swanage for four nights eating at a different place each night and The Black Swan was our favourite.

We just had a fantastic meal in a lovely pub. Food was very traditional pub grub, well made and generous portions. The staff were warn and welcoming and the service was fantastic. Although quiet (Tuesday in march isn't much of a hot date), there was still a lovely warm atmosphere by the fire and a very friendly dog that kept... More

We ate in the bar area which was very atmospheric, just like you imagine a typical English pub. The staff were great, prices good and the food was excellent. Recommend you try it.

Had almost given up on having a decent meal out in swanage until I ate at this place last week. Well kept secret! I was with a couple of friends and our children. The welcome was great and warm, all the meals were tasty and no skimping of portion sizes. Was not made to feel uncomfortable having little ones and... More

Took my two boys [13 & 12] and dog here for dinner while on a long weekend in Swanage. Food was great. We had whitebait, Thai mussels and garlic Ciabatta to start. All were great but mussels was the winner. For main courses we tried fish & chips, pasta carbonara and fish pie. All excellent again. We all left too... More

We were a large group and took over the pub for a Saturday lunchtime. A perfect winter venue with cosy woodburners and friendly service. Well cooked pub food (generous portions) and one of the scrummiest pudding menus ever. Added bonus - great choice of beer. Thankyou everyone.

My pals and I (16 in total) recently enjoyed a short weekend in Swanage and for our Saturday evening meal we ventured to the Black Swan Inn which had been recommended to us. The weather was atrocious so the warmth from the dining-room's large wood-burning stove was most welcome. We had pre-ordered our menu and so the food was served... More

My friend and I had dinner in this cozy pub on a Friday night and it was a wonderful meal. We had the Venison Casserole and it was delicious. Very friendly and I loved the little dog that lives there. So cute. It is a small place in the winter so it probably good to book ahead. Will be going... More
