A great Pub

This is a wonderful pub to go for drinks in. The pub has a great atmosphere and the decor is spot on. The staff are really polite and friendly. I would highly recommend this pub.

We visit Swanage monthly to visit family and never looked twice at the Black Swan. We took the plunge with our toddler and baby and glad we did. Roaring fire and helpful, welcoming staff put us at ease in front of the roaring fire. The garlic bread put every Italian restaurateur to shame, don't miss this off your visit, but... More

Went to Swanage for a Valentines weekend and ate in 3 of the local pubs and felt that this was the pick of the bunch. Others were The Red Lion (2nd) and The Globe (3rd). Food was pretty much of the same standard in each but this one had a best ambiance helped by a roaring wood burner. Just a... More

We did book, as previous reviewers said it might be needed, even in February on a Monday night. It was quite full, but we did get a table. The pub. Decent enough place. Looks like the locals use it a bit to us. Get some more comfy seats for diners though. Food. Curry and a lamb shank. The curry was... More

Went for lunch, booked the table in advance so was disappointed when we were sat facing a brick wall in the corner of the room even though there were empty tables in the middle of the room that were better positioned. The food was nice but nothing really special. Sorry won't be going back

We were recommended this pub from the B&B we were staying at. WOW the food is amazing. We had sirloin steak with all the trimmings and their tasty peppercorn sauce and for dessert warm apple cake with ginger ice cream!! My taste buds are going crazy. Great little pub with excellent food and superb service 12 out of 10 thank... More

This small pub has really come on by concentrating on what it does best .i.e. a smallish range of well prepared, tasty dishes served in generous portions. The cooking is excellent and a nice friendly atmosphere and good service help make this the best pub to eat in in Town. Minor points are the small range of two real ales which... More

We visit The Black Swan every time we come to Swanage. The food is really excellent and there is always a warm welcome. The main bar is snug and there is also a garden for warm days.

We have enjoyed several meals here - the menu capitalises on local produce and at busy times does run out of some 'specials' - indicating the use of fresh ingredients, freshly prepared dishes and tatsy offerings. Portions are generous and all of our party enjoyed their meals. Steaks and ribs were delicious. Not being a great dog lover, i wondered... More

Such a lovely pub with extremely welcoming staff and not to mention Pickle the dog. The food was delicious and we're extremely excited to go back and visit when we're next down in Swanage! Highly recommend.
