Good pub grub

We were in Swanage on holiday and arrived bank holiday Monday and wanted to eat out . We wanted a steak meal and found the red lion on an Internet search . The pub also rates 4 out of 5 from the local food standards agency ratings. Something which I always look at . The pub is a typical oldy... read more

Went in after a long journey and received a warm welcome from the very accommodating staff. It was very busy but the service was still excellent and the food very good. Lovely atmosphere, not to noisy, generally very pleasant.

We went on steak night £24.95 for 2 steaks with all the trimmings and a free bottle of wine. Good location, close to sea front.

Had a couple of pints in the Red Lion Swanage. Firstly Timothy Taylor's Landlord, followed by Sharps Doom Bar. Both were tapped straight from the barrel. Appearance was first class and both tasted fantastic ! Really enjoyed my time in this friendly pub,

Visited here last week. Very good customer service and the meal was excellent. I had the roasted cherry tomato soup to begin with, very tasty. The Hunters Chicken for main is recommended, what a plateful, very tasty! Good selection of real ale and whisky available, too. Always make a visit to this lovely pub when I am in Swanage annually.

Went in hoping for a roast dinner to share with my family and got a very lukewarm reception, was advised that we needed to book and looked up and down because we hadn't done so. Needless to say we voted with our feet and won't be going in there again.

Went for a meal after seeing the advert on a board outside. Did not expect much as the price was cheap with a bottle of wine. The meal was great. The steak tasted great and they didn't skimp on the portion size.
