A proper local pub: great ale, good value food (lunchtimes) and genuine atmosphere, something that big 'pub cos' cannot emulate. Can be a bit crowded at peak times. Good selection of cask ales and simple menu.

The Digby Tap is a proper pub, full of atmosphere in the historic abbey town of sherborne Dorset. Real ales that change daily and the lunch time menus is perfect for that lunch to catch up with friends or to squash those hunger pangs, well worth a visit if you visit the town.

We visited Sherbourne on a recent touring holiday in Dorset with my Aunt who was visiting from Australia. I had forgotten how beautiful and atmospheric Sherbourne is with it's beautiful, ancient honey coloured buildings and beautiful imposing Abbey. It's like stepping back in time.We had lunch at the Digby Tap which was recommended to us by a local lady in... More

The Digby Tap in the delightful and ancient town of Sherborne should be compulsory in any itinerary of places to visit. This old public house is a well known oasis for the lovers of real ale, i.e. draft beers. It is in slightly shabby condition inside but this actually contributes to the atmosphere. The varnish on our table was mostly... More

Nice little pub in Sherborne, with a good selection of Real ale, and a nice, although small outdoor area where you can smoke, or just sit in the sun and enjoy your drinks. The landlord was very helpful

Whenever I am home in the UK, my father and I will go to the Digby Tap to enjoy one of their fine ales and delightful sandwiches. This was the case a few days ago when we came over midweek and were fortunate enough to enjoy the good weather by sitting outside. Good weather, good ale, good times! Great little... More

Nobody stands on parade here. Unapologetically unreconstructed, great atmosphere, busy and friendly with prince and pauper standing together enjoying good beer, good ale and good company. Food is adequate and not for the gourmet but then nor are the prices. "The Tap" will be here long after we have all passed through. If not, it will be because hell has... More

A heaving pub in the backstreet of sleepy Sherbourne. My kind of pub, busy, friendly and serving good beer. The Beer was well kept and carefully served. A fine range of beers for the discerning drinker, and interesting decor and a great atmosphere. We could have stayed there all night drinking quality ales were it not for the impending feast... More

Rough and ready and cramped establishment that is inexplicably popular, but far too many tweed jackets, turned-up rugger shirt collars and mangy dogs for my liking. Red Stripe on draught is a refreshing change, though - wish more places would serve this tangy brew. The mobile phone ban is inconvenient and somewhat irrational in my view; some of the bellowing...
