Chose venue for special meal with friends. Never been before, but was really bowled over by the decor on arrival. We all had different starters, mains & deserts so got a good feel for overall menu. Food was absolutely amazing, well presented, very tasty, even had a vegetarian option that wasn't the standard mushroom risotto! Had THE best evening and... More

Cocktails were great, and pizzas and fish roasted in big wood oven tasted just perfect. We tried some great tasting cheeses and wonderful cakes.

Myself and a group of 13 ladies had a meal here last Saturday evening as part of a hen party. The management and staff were very friendly and accommodating from the off. We were provided with a customised menu for our party and everyone was very happy with selection. Upon arrival the hen in our party was given a little... More

An impromptu stop for lunch on a sunny Sunday. We had come to see Gold Hill made famous by the old Hovis adverts. There were cycle races on the day with a significant crowd gathered to watch & support. It was all happening ! We were attracted to this Hotel/restaurant by the sound of music accompanying a good female vocalist.... More

An enjoyable lunch with friends but the service could've been so much better, no initial greeting and very slow to get drinks, had to ask for wine list, plates and wanted to take our food order before a drink order.. missing a trick here!!!, Had tapas style lunch and all very good.. will go back but would like to see... The Grosvenor Arms has suffered in the last decade years, initially from indifferent management and then from a misguided refurbishment. Now this coaching inn from a bygone era has its old name restored, and its central role in a small market town may also be restored by a recent sympathetic makeover and new management. The bar is a welcoming area... More

Nice pizza oven and a decent wine list. I had pizza with quails eggs and wife went for the plaice. I finished with ice cream/sorbet (lychee sorbet!) and my wife had the Eton mess. Washed down with a pinot Grigio rose.. Splendid meal

The menu looked interesting and the decor was very Boutique Hotel. However, the staff admitted that they had only seen the new menu 5 minutes before service and had no idea what the dishes consisted of. The carpaccio of octopus was lovely but the belly pork was pure grease on a plate! The rib eye of pork was really a... More

We stayed here for 1 night and wished we had booked for longer. The hotel decor is modern but comfortable. We were in room 14 and not for those with a heart condition as there are many stairs. Once in the spacious room ,looking onto the street, it was well worth it- huge bed, coffee machine, heavy curtains. Due to... More

We visited the Grosvenor to celebrate my sons birthday on a Sunday Evening. The ambience of the Grosvenor is great and the service good. However, despite being quiet we were disappointed with the dining experience. There were several dishes that were unavailable and I recommended the steak knowing that the beef was supplied by Simon Harvell and from a previous... More
