NICE AMBIENCE!

Lovely meal last night in the restaurant. Fire was not lit, but that aside the ambience was relaxing, warm and cosy. Lots of wood and candles, just what we like! We had pizzas which were great but the side dishes were in my opinion not good value for money. Very tiny dish of spring greens for a... read more

We booked in as were staying in the hotel, and from the beginning realised the staff were not trained well and had no leadership. The food was excellent, we all had different fish dishes and all were good. Great chef, shame about front of house.

We made a business trip and had a meal in the evening. I chose a pizza... very delicoius.. a small piece of Italy. Also the Service is very kind and solicitous. If you want a good time with good food don't hesitate to go there. Regards Markus

We arrived at the Grosvenor on the off-chance they had a table for Sunday lunch. We're very glad they did. The restaurant and bar have been wonderfully kitted out. They've resisted the temptation to stuff more tables in meaning plenty of room to enjoy your meal. Three of us had pizzas. Delicious. I enjoyed nice tasty rare burger with exquisite... More

The place was totally buzzing with people on the two occasions we visited. Charming atmosphere, quirky setting, average food, friendly and helpful staff

Went to celebrate 3 birthdays, a total of 5 people on 17th Jan. Bar was buzzing with music and new cocktails on offer which the ladies felt obliged to test :o). All very nice after being warmly greeted and our coat taken. Menu comprehensive, one criticism I have and it is a major one for me, is that I ordered... More

As residents of Shaftesbury, we were keen to try our newly refurbished and well- reviewed Grosvenor Hotel. On a Saturday night we thought the place would be buzzing, and indeed, it was full and quite lively. The staff were friendly and charming, but not well trained - our waitress was unable to answer any of our questions about the menu... More

I'll start with the pluses. The breakfast that accompanies a night's stay is very good. I had Eggs Benedict, and the dish was spot on. Service was also good, but there were few diners. Our dinner the night before was not something I'd like to repeat other than for the desserts, a delicious chocolate mousse and a very tasty sticky... More

I really want to really like the Grosvenor Arms but have come away with mixed feelings. My gripes - we went to reception on arrival then to the bar having reserved table but the waitress had no idea that we were there, no process for calling people to the table. Beer was off but replaced without quibble. We had chosen... More

Dear katecg Thank you for your review and subsequent correspondence. We’re glad you enjoyed your food when you visited last week, but are saddened that you felt our prices are too high and the service was poor. After investigating the matter fully I would like to respond, primarily for the benefit of would –be visitors to the restaurant, as we... More

In October we went for a family meal to celebrate my birthday after hearing good things about the restaurant. After browsing a very pretentious menu, I just about found something to order for starter; wood pigeon pastrami and caramelised plums. Unfortunately upon first taste the dish was extremely salty, to the point I actually heaved. Not wanting to cause a... More
