I'll start with the pluses. The breakfast that accompanies a night's stay is very good. I had Eggs Benedict, and the dish was spot on. Service was also good, but there were few diners. Our dinner the night before was not something I'd like to repeat other than for the desserts, a delicious chocolate mousse and a very tasty sticky... More

I really want to really like the Grosvenor Arms but have come away with mixed feelings. My gripes - we went to reception on arrival then to the bar having reserved table but the waitress had no idea that we were there, no process for calling people to the table. Beer was off but replaced without quibble. We had chosen... More

Dear katecg Thank you for your review and subsequent correspondence. We’re glad you enjoyed your food when you visited last week, but are saddened that you felt our prices are too high and the service was poor. After investigating the matter fully I would like to respond, primarily for the benefit of would –be visitors to the restaurant, as we... More

In October we went for a family meal to celebrate my birthday after hearing good things about the restaurant. After browsing a very pretentious menu, I just about found something to order for starter; wood pigeon pastrami and caramelised plums. Unfortunately upon first taste the dish was extremely salty, to the point I actually heaved. Not wanting to cause a... More

Upon arrival, our group was impressed by the decor and ambience, but there it ended.....My Campari soda aperitif was appallingly served.....in a pint glass topped up with far too much soda, no ice and no orange slice. Sadly, that error set the tone for the evening. The service was mainly by young staff who were clearly inadequately trained. They mistook... More

The restaurant, though the food was excellent and reasonably priced the service is probably the worst we have ever experienced at such a nice hotel. We were sat down for dinner given menus ordered drinks and then told that the kitchen wasn't opening for another 30 minutes. A food allergy was dangerously ignored with my wife asking to ensure her... More

We went for lunch here and were sadly disappointed, having been looking forward to it for some time. We were shown to a table which wasn't laid. It took ten minutes before anyone came and laid the table and gave us some menus. There was then another long delay before our orders were taken. I was a little disappointed with... More

We started in the bar and were served with excellent aplomb by the barman who spent time to discuss not just our order but other general questions. Our wine was delicious and our food was surprisingly well flavoured and came from an interesting and well thought out menu. The restaurant was very busy on a wednesday night and reflects that... Will start review by pointing out that my review is not of the more formal dining restaurant, but of the more casual Woodfired Pizza Oven/outdoor courtyard area. The whole establishment has been recently decorated in the modern shabby chic style. And very nice it is. From entering there is a nice relaxed atmosphere that is also maintained by the staff...
