An old church that has been nicely converted to an Italian restaurant, even the gravestones on the entrance are kept to add a little eeire atmosphere. Once inside you forget that you are in and old church and prayers are replaced with joyfull chattering and laughter. We had a very good time and food was genuinely Italian well worth the... More

This restaurant is in a converted church in the centre of Shaftesbury. Excellent home cooked Italian cuisine served by pleasant staff. A good atmosphere and value for money.

My Mum lives in Shaftesbury and has done for a while but not visited this restaurant before. However, it was a revelation, food arrived quickly and lots of choice, I had the chicken livers served in a bread basket and the portion was huge, my husband had the sardines which where great. for main course we had Lasagna, canellonni and... Centrally situated, right by the Angel Lane car park, Amore is in an old chapel building, which has been redecorated with sunny Italian scenes and memorabilia (Need I mention the "Juve Merda" football scarf?) The building can be rather cold, so be warned. The food is Italian classics, beautifully cooked and presented. The deli is well-stocked and well worth a... More

We arrived at the beginning of a very buy evening so although the service was quick and attentive to start with it slacked off towards the end of our visit, as 2 very large groups had to be catered for. As these were clearly pre-booked it should have been possible to get some additional waiting staff in but maybe they... More

An interesting little restaurant in a converted church. Airy and spacious with good natural light and interesting paintings on the walls and ceilings of Italian scenes. The owner is from Naples so that explains all that. anyway .. the service and food. Service was quick and efficient but it was quiet, the food was delicious and a good portion size,... More

Good, genuine Italian food. Always fresh and hot. Lovely building but can be a bit cold and drafty. Extremely good quality and very good value for money. Recommend booking for weekends and holidays. Toilets clean but cold.
