My family visited Yalbury Cottage to celebrate a 'big' birthday of my wife. The arrangements were conducted by email & phone and kept as a surprise. We reserved the entire restaurant and we were delighted with everything, warm welcome, wonderful ambience, delicious food & wines, service par excellence! We could not have wished for more.

This was my first visit to Yalbury Cottage, a lovely little find in a pretty hamlet just outside Dorchester, Dorset. We were a party of four including two discerning locals with whom we were staying. We kicked off with pre lunch drinks in the garden on what appeared to be the hottest day of the year. Having ordered we were... More

We had Sunday lunch at Yalbury Cottage whilst staying with friends in the area a couple of weeks ago. From having drinks in the garden to coffee afterwards, again in the garden, everything was wonderful. I’m not a vegetarian but there are a lot of other things I don’t eat including fish so quite often when eating out I am... More

Some work colleagues and I were here very recently for a goodbye dinner, and we had ordered a 5 course dinner. We had a pre-dinner drink outside on the patio, and were escorted inside to a large rectangular table which accommodated us all very well. The food was lovely - I had a fish starter, lamb main and a panna... More

Loved the leisurely pace of the meal we had here. From the pre-dinner drinks outside to the perfect pauses between courses to the coffee and chocs to finish. Food gorgeous too! Will be returning!

Me and my girlfriend had a spotless dinner with superb and genuinely friendly service from the lovely couple running the restaurant. We both regret we didn't stay the night, as we had booked elsewhere already. The food itself was in many ways just as good as any Michelin restaurant we have been to, with a unique British-French touch to it... More

We went to Yalbury as a group of five. The weather was with us as the sun was shining and we sat outside before and after the meal. The group worked through three options for each of starters, mains, and desserts, so we explored the menu (which is not huge) and everything was first class. Highlights were the dressed crab... More

Today we celebrated a special family birthday with Sunday lunch at Yarlbury Cottage. The food and service were perfect - not a scrap was left on any plate. We have been wanting to visit for some time and will certainly be back soon. It certainly deserves it's number 1 rating! Thank you.

We had lunch sitting in the pretty cottage garden here and it was delightful. We had a variety of dishes including beer battered calamari, crab etc followed by a light and tasty limoncello cheesecake. It gets very booked up especially at weekends. It seems to be everyone's favourite restaurant amongst the locals.
