Lovely Restaurant, Food & Service.

Have been here twice now and the most recent was wonderful. There was 10 of us for a birthday carvery meal. The staff were very accommodating, the food was yummy and they were very helpful in providing meals for children. The bill was £160 for 10 people which seemed like good value. The decor of the... read more

My husband took me here last night for supper and having sat down and ordered drinks we perused the menu.... what was previously a fairly high end, interesting, bistro style menu has been changed to a short pub style menu. The owner explained that the chef left under something of a cloud at very short notice so until a new... More

This was our third visit for a meal, the previous was a year ago and we have always enjoyed excellent food and service. Unfortunately our third visit will be our last, the service was as good as ever but the food was awful. The menu was quite limited but that is ok mid week, however the fish cakes were hard... More

Thank you for your review (the only one I notice). I am sorry that you did not enjoy your meal. It was not stated that any of the food was homemade even though the majority on the menu is. I have no recollection of any plates with food on coming back to me as I would have questioned it as... More

I am sat reflecting on last nights wonderful party! The venue was perfect, (as ALL of my guests commented), the food was good and plentiful and the service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble for Jackie, Raj and their team and the whole evening was better than I could have dared hope for. We have just rounded... More

I held my husbands 50th birthday here last weekend and what a wonderful evening we had. Due to numbers Jackie very kindly closed the restaurant for the party so we had the use of the whole building which worked very well with what I had planned. Jackie made sure prior to the evening just what we required, what space we... More

Lovely meal. The Restaurant was very quiet and lacked a bit of atmosphere, but I think we were just unlucky because it was so quier. Would certainly return

I visited The Gamekeeper recently with my partner. We stayed in one of the rooms in the back for 3 nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the room- it was clean and well furnished. It was also extremely quiet! There were thunderstorms and a huge downpour one night and we could not hear any of it! The food in the... More

This was my second visit to The Gamekeeper, the first was a very enjoyable evening and we were expecting more of the same. Upon arrival, we had to queue at the door due to a large party of guests waiting for drinks and to be seated. After fighting our way to the bar and ordering drinks we were asked to... More

I am sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. I am sorry that your steak was not cooked to perfection, I do hope that I checked on you! I did ask you twice if you would like to order so I could serve you first so that you would be happy instead of trying to fit you in between... More

Just had a 3 night stay at this lovely place, have to say the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking space and a separate entrance for guests to access the rooms. We stayed in room 1 which was just at the top of the stairs, lovely room , spacious and airy and when we visited quite hot... More

Me and my partner enjoyed a wonderful evening at the gamekeeper a few days ago. We were greeted by a lovely landlady, shown to our impressive room, and later went downstairs to a wonderfully presented meal. Every part of our dinner was superb, (the steak was to die for) and the service was exemplary. We had a marvellous stay and... More
