Really nice food and friendly service although a little on the expensive side Specials were selected by all 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed all courses The red wine was a little disappointing as was cold rather than room temperature, and the wines were all on the higher price scale.

Enjoyed our meal here - we turned up without a reservation on a busy Friday night and they found us a table. We had fish and duck with a bottle of wine, both were very tasty and well cooked. It felt like being in Italy - don't be put off by the shop front, the tables are downstairs in the... More

This is a tough review to write, hence leaving it a week or so before commiting. I have been to La Caverna before, but did not review it then, although I remember the evening as being pleasant. This time out however, not sure. Can't quite put my finger on it. The service seemed hap hazard, despite sending the menu selections... More

Very welcoming place, cosy inside, fantastic menu. I had the beef carpaccio - the best I have had. Upon leaving the owners talk to you about the meal which is a nice touch.... cant fault this place

Authentic Italian. Nothing to dislike - everything to like. Just book it at go. Hand painted frescos in the main dining area give you a Florenzia ambience. Great selection of daily specials plus an impressive a la carte. Be prepared to spend a few quid! But it's worth it. Staff very friendly and professional and made our party of 11... More

Very good food, very good service, very good value and a buzzy feel in an atmospheric vaulted cellar.

There are two tables at street level, but the main action (and lively atmosphere) is downstairs in the eponymous cave whose walls and arched ceiling are decorated with painted scenes and festooned with coloured lights and Italianate “vines”. My dining chair was very straight-backed and uncomfortable. The main menu, which is bound and laminated pub-style, lists a predictable (and probably... More

Great food from a family run restaurant, had the steak and it was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was intimate and lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Italian food, the owners are Italian and have a very good knowledge of the food and cultures.

Ambience, service and food are first class. Quirky, charming and authentic. Looking forward to a second trip to Dorset.

Whilst on holiday what a great little find! Quirky little restaurant. Varied menu. Had, starters, main and dessert with a bottle of wine. Food was excellent, well worth the money. No complaints from my husband, who normally finds something to fault! Thinking about going back tomorrow for our last night, as we enjoyed it so much. :)
