Dined here with the Mrs on a Friday night and enjoyed a great meal. All the tables are downstairs in what we learnt was an old grain cellar. It's brilliantly decked out with painted walls and really cosy. The food was superb. We were a bit safe and went for lasagna and a pizza, and both were superb. Whitebait and... More

We had a meal here midweek but if you wanted to visit at the weekend it would be advisable to book as the restaurant is downstairs in a cavern environment ie not a lot of room! But small is beautiful and this family run business has friendly helpful staff and a tasty menu. I would much rather a meal here... More

We visited La Caverna to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and to bring back memories of our Italian honeymoon... We could have been back in Italy! We had a beautiful meal in La Caverna, everything was so fresh and deliciously and perfectly cooked, a real treat - we even managed 3 courses (just!). We were given the nice quiet table in... More

Here with friends- 7/8 of us in total. Long wait for drinks and food- mine was ok- nothing brilliant and quite pricey for what it was. Staff friendly enough and attentive but had to wait too long for every thing. Amongst us food was rated as good, very good for risotto, and a bit bland for the rest . Main... More

Whenever we are in the area, we always visit La Caverna for a meal. I first stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant when I was working in Weymouth, but staying in Dorchester a few years ago. The place is quirky, yet brilliant. The staff are always friendly, helpful, attentive, yet "keep out the way" when required. The greatest of care is... More

We had a lovely meal, service very good in a ice relaxed atmosphere. When you first walk in you are in for a surprise as the seating restaurant area is down stairs in what must have been a wine sella or something similar. I would defiantly recommend this restaurant.

Very friendly, good choice, a really enjoyable meal. Sicilian owner/chef with interesting take on authentic Italian food. Certainly would recommend.

We enjoyed a truly excellent meal, with impeccable service, in a quirky setting with a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the full Italian menu, there were some imaginative specials, making it a tricky but pleasurable choice selecting dishes; the wine list is not long, but interesting, and the Planeta was excellent value for money. Everything we ate was perfectly cooked,... More
