Fabulous, utterly atmospheric and fun to be there, but maybe more importantly seriously good cooking, Italian cuisine at its best. Amazing!

Hidden at basement level, tucked away from the Main Street in Dorchester, La Caverna is a real treat. Full of atmosphere with a perfect level of service, La Caverna turned out to be a great place to take my wife for a birthday meal. The food was amazing and realistically priced and we whiled away a very pleasant couple of... More

Had a fantastic evening, great house wine and wonderful seafood, lovely warm welcome, helpful staff and beautiful food, the only improvement would have been Johnny Depp on a date but I can dream, would recommend eating here and look forward to my next visit, meraviglioso pasto grazie

Recommended by our guest house, La Caverna is in the basement level with stone walls and a curved ceiling. It is owned and run by a British woman and her Sicilian spouse. The food was delicious and the service friendly and personable.

Had an excellent meal here. The food is freshly cooked. We both had fish which was delicious. There is an extensive menu. The service is very good. The main restaurant is downstairs in the buildings cellar. Can highly recommend and will visit again

What a sweet little restaurant, took my mum while we were here visiting from the US. The food is great quality and the service was fantastic. Atmosphere topped off our visit. Will return on our next visit to the UK.

An ideal Italian restaurant to take a mixed party of adults and teenagers. The food is very fresh and authentic with plenty of choice for more adult tastes but fussy teenagers can also discuss what they would like and one even had a special dish devised solely for him. The service is friendly and every one in our party had... More

Don't be fooled by the outside, from the street looked a bit shabby, like a take away about to shut. To our surprise we were shown into "la caverna", a charcter filled underground restaurant. What followed was an evening of great food and atmosphere, it is 'proper' Italian, not the Prezzo type alternative. Service was very friendly and polite, neither... More

Visiting relatives in Dorset, they booked for us to eat in this restaurant and not knowing the area we just hoped for a pleasant meal in an Italian Restaurant, well what a great surprise this place is. As others have stated the "frontage" belies the reality of the actual restaurant itself. Be escorted down the stairs into the basement that... More
