I went for a meal with some friends and ordered Coq au Vin. The meal arrived in a watery wine coloured liquid. The chicken was not cooked well enough and a couple of us commented on the under cooked new potatoes. The menu which stated that vegetables are included with this dish but didn't say that the order for these... More

Thanks rufus2010916, for the review. Whilst an entertaining read for all on Trip Advisor, I would like to clarify a few tiny points that you failed to mention. The menu clearly states, that our Coq au Vin, is a chicken breast, and this is a departure from the French classic, not leg, not thigh, or any other parts of the... More

We were told that this pub had new management and was worth checking out. Our friends were right - there was plenty of choice and the food was really good. The service was pleasant and helpful, if a little slow. There's quite a bit of room to eat in for a village pub, with scrubbed wooden tables of different sizes.... More

Popped in on the off chance for a quick bite last saturday afternoon, my wife and 2 year old daughter and I were made very welcome. Lovely relaxed proper pub feel with a nice menu and twist, I had the chicken, chorizo and prawn noodles and my wife had the beef noodles, my daughter had lasagne. All had plenty to... More

Had Sunday lunch here several times and always enjoyed it. Carvery good value as can include drink and dessert. Two meats to choose from or have both, plenty of vegetables and lovely Yorkshire puddings. Very relaxed Sunday lunch. Only minor issue we ordered coffee following dessert which was forgotten but we didn't remind them. Will be back again.

My wife & I visited The Martyrs for lunch after visiting Arlington Hall. The menu was a little limited and most items were a bit on the "pricey" side but the food was very good, well presented and plenty of it. The staff were also welcoming and efficient.

The only pub in the village is a a community hub. Good food is served here, so if you are feeling peckish, this is worth the stop. I've eaten here several times over the past few years and the food was been consistently good. On the other hand, the real ale could be better. There are only two choices but... More

7 of us family members ate Sunday lunch here last week. It has to be said it was one of the best carveries I've ever had. The meat was succulent and fresh. The vegetables were gorgeous and always being replaced as the dishes were not too large. The Yorkshires were going like,.... well,....like hot Yorkshires!!! It was delicious. We also... More

Decided to have a meal at the Martyrs Inn after a pleasant visit to Atlehampton House .We were given a very warm welcome and our meals of crispy beef followed by the steak and potato pie washed down with a very nice glass of wine hit the spot. The music was a bit intrusive for a while but was turned... More
