On a return Saturday night visit this pub was very busy, and noisy, as there's nothing to absorb the sound. The restaurant is at one end of the room and the bar is at the other. They let customers bring in dogs (this a country pub). Some tables have cloths, but otherwise the surrounding are simple. Quite an eclectic menu,... More

Excellent food, 4 different draught beers to choose from and very good service. Not the cheapest pub grub but worth it. Will return if in the area.

I took a party of 17 on a 'Hardy country' visit on August 8th, 2014. We had booked lunch at The Wise Man Inn and had forwarded our menu choices a few days before the visit. Although we arrived half an hour later than we had advised them, Philip, the Manager, was welcoming and friendly and assured us our late... More

We have eaten at the Wiseman on several occasions with friends and as a couple. Each visit has been a delight, the food is excellent with ample portion sizes. The staff have always greeted us warmly even at busy times (Xmas eve), been friendly and attentive. The decor is relaxing & stylish adding to the overall experience so glad we... More

I notice a few negative reviews here and I'm surprised given the great meal and fine service we enjoyed tonight. The welcome was friendly and the lady who attended to us was knowledgable and helpful. We each ordered entrees and mains and couldn't have been happier with the portion sizes, the quality of the meals, or the service. This is... More

It's been a few years since I've been to the Wise Man and my memory of it was of a lovely pub in a quaint village setting but with pretty much standard pub fare. After enjoying Sunday lunch there at the weekend I certainly felt that they have succeeded in upping their game. I went there in a 'roast dinner'... More

Went there for a meal 9/8/2014, I thought that the food was overpriced for such a small portion. I asked my husband to get me a white wine spritzer, the bar staff obviously don't know how to make one, it was vile. The food as well as being sparse was poorly presented which meant that it looked unappealing as well.... More

It has to be a poor rating. Lovely pub, great setting and village but the food was remarkably average. 1 Bouillabaisse small tasty but not much sign of shellfish and 1 Belly Pork very dry, re heated mashed potato nice green vegetables rubber crackling and was crying out for a small sauce or gravy. Broke a golden rule by drinking... More

A visit to the Wise Man was partly reminiscing as I spent every summer holiday in the village when I was young. The pub had changed very much but the location cannot be bettered. The food has changed vastly from the days of a double decker roll, but it was beautifully cooked and well presented. It was unfortunate that the barman... More

Second year holidaying in the area and have made a number of visits to this pub. Always had a great lunch, service is spot on and decor is attractive. Sunday lunch has been the highlight with a delicious selection of veg and requests for a couple of extra roasties for the kids met with no problems. Highly recommended.
