I love this place, and go most weeks. I tend to have the same food each time (either baked potato or macaroni cheese) but that's my choice. The staff always greet me cheerfully, and I feel very comfortable being here on my own, which is not always the case in cafés. With a book, a diet coke and... read more

I've been going to Dorchester regularly for a year or so, and my usual lunch spot was unfortunately closed on my last visit, so I headed roamed for a short while before finding Potters. The cafe is small and cosy, with the open fire being a great touch. I had a foccacia sandwich and a flat white for a swift... More

Came here for lunch on a very busy New Year’s Eve. The cafe was very popular and every table full but despite this the service and food were excellent and the staff were friendly and good humoured. One of us had the Potter’s Club Sandwich (very generous), one had the pasta dish, one had the chicken sandwich and one had... More

I took my family for a quick lunch while in dorchester. My daughter aged 1 was made to feel at home. the staff managed to be extremely polite even though they were short staffed and clearly busy as the tables upstairs and downstairs were all full and being turned over left right and centre. The staff even took car of... More

Me and my family were driving through Dorchester a few weeks ago, and asked a friendly local where the best place to go for a meal was; their reply was "Potters Cafe Bistro, and have the Lamb Tagine, trust me!", so we headed off to there. Once inside we were greeted & treated very homely, and asked to take a... More

Had the half English breakfast on Saturday. That's one of everything! The full is of course bigger. Omg delicious. Piping hot and plenty. Proper home cooked food. All good quality and not greasy. Were turning people away at lunchtime so very busy which confirms its popularity. Well done.

When we visit Dorchester this is ALWAYS our favoured eaterie. The personal service of a genuine independent shines through above all the soulless chains now sadly encroaching on this town. The homecooked food is really tasty, good value and good quality. Thank heavens they haven't fallen into the trap of quantity over quality. Long may they continue as we'll be... More

One of our regular weekend stops for a cooked breakfast or light lunch. The staff are all polite and attentive, food to a good standard and the place has a great feel. We like it when the fire is going on cold winter mornings and seems to make the food taste even better. The 'Half English' is our best pick... More

We were travelling back from the west country and stopped off at Dorchester hoping to find somewhere to eat and relax on a Sunday lunchtime. We walked around for quite a while and without much success until we stumbled upon Potters tucked away in a side street off the main shopping area. We count ourselves as being very fortunate to... First visit to Potters Café in about 20 years. Used to eat here regularly so was really pleased to find it still open and not much altered. The café was very busy and no table available. I was approached by a member of staff who took my name and phone number and told me she would reserve us a table... More
