Decent pub, decent pint & decent food

We arrived on a very wet day & after a nice pint enjoyed a selection of 3 starters. Felafel were great and very tasty, the hummus & olives nothing special. Another couple of pints slipped down easily & then we tried the veggie chilli & the vegetarian pie. Both were nice & I'd have the pie again... read more

Well, I'm only here for a day, but at last I have found a proper local pub !! It was hard work, but a good end result. Very happy to have at last found a real pub with a great selection of real ales. I have to admit being biased as Wadworths 6X is my favourite Ale, but add to... More

I agree with the writer who said that this place is definitely not as good as the other reviews would imply. If you've never been to a so-called real ale pub then you might be impressed but this isn't much of a place really. I guess the clue lies in its silly name - authentic real ale pubs don't have... Good friendly staff with good food and drink and a good all round atmosphere for a drink alone or a catch up with friends and family. I particularly like the garden which is half covered over so you can sit outside rain or shine and has some comfy sofas to relax

Great beer, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Pub has an old fashioned feel with a modern clientele. Loved the courtyard out back where it was possible to relax and chat.

We regularly stay in the Premier Inn which is quite close, and we always visit the Goat and Tricycle for beer and food. We generally share 5 or 6 of their equivalent of varied and tasty Tapas and have a pint of their excellent ales, of which there were 11 when we last visited. The Merlot was also very nice.... More

We came here after trying other pubs which would not let us in with a dog. The Goat & Tricycle is very dog friendly and there were several other dogs already there. Sadly, we arrived too late for food so I cannot offer an opinion on that. The beers however were very acceptable. The pub is a bit dark -... More

We went here as our hotel was nearby and it was on the way into town. Found excellent reviews on here so thought we'd give it a try. The pub itself is ok but certainly nothing special. Yes it has character and is a bit old fashioned...which is what makes it appealing to "real ale drinkers" I suppose. Not being... More

A mate of mine who is an expert in real ales and venues where it's sold advised me to find this pub whilst in Bournemouth for a weekend. A proper pub rather than the run down sports bars in the town centre. A large selection of real ales and decent food as well. Well worth taking the time to find.
