The Urban Reef is an informal bar, cafe, deli and restaurant located right on the beach. We have our own farm where we grow much of our own produce and we're passionate about local, ethical and seasonal food. We have some of the best views in the country right over the bay and are just a few metres from the sand. Cafe by day and restaurant by night with our own in house baker and incredible coffee we look forward to looking after you anytime of the day. We're fans of praise in public and criticise in private, so any problems, ideally email the owner Mark we'll try to make things up to you. Any praise then please tell TripAdvisor and the world. Very Funky Cafe/Restaurnat with Great Sea View

My wife and I went into the café for lunch after a mid week walk on the beach. The place was packed. We had a rather nice Gascon white wine (£18/bottle). For eats I had a beef burger. It was beautifully cooked, beautifully presented and the chucky chips were excellent. My wife had three of the... read more

Visited on a Sunday morning and the place was heaving - we got the last table around 9.30am and after that people were queuing to get in. Breakfast was top notch and the situation on the promenade made us feel we were genuinely on holiday (more like the med than the UK). Vegetarian breakfast highly recommended.

I visited a few weeks ago with clients, their recommendation, from the outside it look pleasant enough, typical south of England Beech located restaurant, what was incredible was the staff, the ambiance and food. The local ales were excellent and interesting for my German client, we both had the Seafood starter platter, it was one of the best starters I... More

We had a very nice late breakfast at the Urban Reef. Eggs Royal served up by very friendly staff with lots of smiles. Given we were in the middle of Storm Imogen which was hitting the beach with some gusto, the cafe was quite busy. The views from the table were stunning. All in all a very pleasant morning.

Great find! Sunday night, mid Feb mid storms! Found this place on TripAdvisor on the seafront great location. Still reasonably busy on a Sunday eve in Feb! Sat in a large booth with 5 of us plenty of room great table offered to us away from the door and windows due to gale force winds! Cannot imagine the view in... More

What a gem! Fantastic food and staff are amazing. It was raining and gale force winds when we went but they even provide blankets if your cold! I cannot fault anything, will definitely visit again 😊

Me and my boyfriend went here for our anniversary and we loved it! The food was really really good with friendly staff and short waiting times for our meals. The menu is quite expensive but is perfect for special occasions. We will definitely be going back in the near future!

I recently went to Urban Reef for my birthday and it was a nice, chilled restaurant with very friendly staff. The food was great and the portions were very generous! There was no hesitation when asking for more bread with one of our starters and I also got a lovely surprise of a complimentary glass of prosecco for my birthday.... More

Love this place for breakfast, especially when warm enough to sit outside. Fabulous restaurant on sea front with beach/ surf feel. Service is great - Young, friendly and helpful. Full breakfast with toast included and eggs Benedicti/florentine recommended. Good, hot coffee.

The quirky Naomi was a relatively new member of staff and was nervous about her first attempt at mixing the Urban Reef's special recipe for a Bloody Mary. Let me just say it was the best Bloody Mary I have ever had and I have had quite a few. If you go and want one, make sure you ask Naomi... More
