The Urban Reef is an informal bar, cafe, deli and restaurant located right on the beach. We have our own farm where we grow much of our own produce and we're passionate about local, ethical and seasonal food. We have some of the best views in the country right over the bay and are just a few metres from the sand. Over the last couple of years this restaurant by the sea has doubled in size but retains the laid back friendly atmosphere it started with. A quality eating place with good coffee and friendly service. Always busy, and you need to be patient, but worth the wait. One of my favorite places.

Stopped here for lunch after a very long walk from Hengistbury Head and managed to get a table outside in the sunshine. Ordered fish & chips and a pint of bitter shandy. The shandy was lovely, it was almost black and tasted amazing (Darkside I think), and the fish was excellent with just a thin layer of very crsipy batter.... More

We were celebrating belated birthdays and Mothers Day and the evening started off well with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Our starters came fairly quickly. Although my husband and I enjoyed our scallops, our daughter did not like the monkfish tail starter as it was served (deliberately) cold. Although this was her fault, the waiter took the starter off our... More

I have been to Urban Reef numerous times since it opened. Its a beautiful location especially to sit outside on a nice sunny day. The food is always good and a nice variety to choose from. When the restaurant first opened, the service was always relaxed, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the last few times I have been, the service has... More

Our regular treat for breakfast. Even on the worst weather days we go for the best Eggs Benedict & Surfs Up full english. Amazing views. Have newspapers which I love. Only downside is your eating scrummy food when very fit people in lycra jog past which hangs on the conscience for all of 5 seconds. Love it.

We went on a rather chilly February day and, for some unknown reason, they had opened one of the removable glass sides of the indoor seating area. The wind whistled through the place and they had not lit the heaters, so I was absolutely frozen, having to wear gloves between courses. Although the food was good, they were very busy... More

We were on a romantic weekend (no kids, eating out, night in a hotel) and decided to give Urban Reef a go (my partner has been before but as I have not long moved back from London, I hadn't). Service was excellent, food was delicious and it was great value. We could have stayed and taken in the view for... More

Wow what a restaurant. We arrived on time for our meal but unfortunately our table wasn't ready but that wasn't a problem as we just had a drink at the bar downstairs. Once seated we were given a free glass of prosecco to say sorry for the delay and then proceeded to have a fabulous meal, we recommend the mussels... More
