Lovely and chilled

Just what we needed on a busy Saturday to escape for hour from the rain and the shoppers. If you are in Totnes head away from the madness of the market (not sure if it is on every day) and head to the other end of town for lovely cakes and proper tea.

Step off the main street of Totnes into Vintage Tea and you step into an oasis of calm rarely found in any eating establishment today. The light from the glass atrium roof enhances the serene atmosphere, as do the tables which are a comfortable distance apart, with attractive clothes and china. They serve a range of light snacks, sandwiches, puddings,... More

The classic English tearoom, very classy and elegant. All fine teas and puddings that will really make you feel like part of the place even if you're a foreigner. Recommended for the five o'clock tea.

Stopped for morning coffee on arrival in Totnes. Beautiful, elegant tearoom and lovely service. Wide range of tea/coffee available. Unfortunately we were still full from breakfast but the cakes looked gorgeous. Well worth a visit and certainly one I will return to when next in the area.

Best cheese scone I have ever tasted. We were sat in the window and while we were there 3 couples looked through the window but didn't come in !!! It does look a bit like a shop also, we think it may have been this reason why they didn't come in. I wanted to grab them and tell them to... More

Its what I look for in a tea room. Fine bone china, clean and welcoming and there it is in Totnes sitting at the bottom of the main sT. Tables set with the finest bone china, varying patterns all very attractive. The usual tea room fare but all sourced locally. I loved it, its so good to find a place... More

We visited here during the half term to get our teenagers out of the house and get them to speak in full sentences (for a change) while sharing a light lunch. There is a refinement and attention to small details here that make visiting this tea room a real pleasure. The nicely grouped tables each use a different pattern of... More

Visited here as a family for a cuppa and cake. Wonderfully decorated place with polite, friendly staff. Great Teas (and Coffee) on offer with great big slices of cake. A very pleasent surprise indeed.

Superb all round. Invokes a feeling of a more genteel era and good to see it is a mobile free zone. Efficient, courteous and helpful staff. Superlative cakes and choice of teas. Beautiful surroundings, feels very light and airy with Lloyd Loom furniture, linen table cloths and pretty bone china. Very much looking forward to a return visit.

Firstly when you enter you notice the decor - it has a traditional feel with a clean and pretty appearance. We went as a group and reserved a table, the service was excellent and friendly. The food and drinks were of a high quality and well presented. I had the savoury scone and English tea - excellent.
