Cranks Restaurant

Whenever I visit the far south west of Cornwall I try to call in at Cranks on the return journey, as a vegetarian it is great to have a full choice from the menu rather than the usual one or two options, this time we opted for the Samosas with a winter salad and were not disapointed.

If you want to stray to the Dark Green side! Cranks Vegetarian Restaurant is the place to try it. My lunch was a wonderful Spicy Vegetable Tangine with an unusual salad of shredded red cabbage, Mediterranean couscous, bean salad and lettuce. Followed by millionaire shortbread topped with chocolate. There was so many appetizing choices, all made on site. They bake... More

So disappointing, I loved this restaurant even have their cookbook, but eating out is not just about the food, which was OK , nothing more, but the staff were so unhappy. We all have our problems but with so many great restaurants nearby I will be taking my money elsewhere.

Probably the best Latte I have had for ages was a lovely accompaniment to my Date slice ( I know bit close to lunch) we sat inside as the frost had started to melt on the seats outside, but not enough to dry them off ... Anyway the other half had one of the very popular cheese scones and a... More

If you're going to have a coffee machine then at least teach you're staff some rudimentary skills. The flatwhite I had was honestly the worst I'd ever tried, I accept that it's not the easiest espresso based drink to prepare and I wasn't expecting stunning latte art or anything like that however I would it expect it to be the... A visit to the last Cranks in the county did not disappoint. The service was slightly slow but the food from the pie to the lasagne certainly was up to standard and took us down memory lane to when Cranks was in it's heyday. Good salads and flapjacks as always. Yes it was a bit cramped but that's Cranks. Worth... More

Cranks in the 1970's in London was fabulous- rows of bowls of delicious salads- beautiful wholemeal rolls filled with the best egg and cress or homemade cottage cheese and chives/nut roasts and hot dishes of the day. Roll to 2015..... Miserable/dark/surly staff/HUGELY expensive - ie £8.25 for a small slice of average quiche and salads ( think choice was 3).As... More

We visited Cranks for lunch, have visited previously so were looking forward to our meal. I chose spicy vegetable tagine which was lukewarm, I returned this and the staff did heat it up and apologise, my husbands hommity pie was also 'warm' rather than hot. The accompanying salads were good. I also had to return a dirty water glass and... More

Called in when visiting the shops at Dartington, the food looked appetising and the server was welcoming and polite. However it took such a long time to get to the till the hot meals were luke warm, my wife had to have her's replaced. The person on the till was obviously new and was struggling having to constantly call for... More

The service is terrible....very slow. I was the only person at the counter and was there ages before anyone came out to serve me. The food is over priced and things that should be hot are cold! It's a bit dark and depressing inside, and it feels very run down and as though no one could care less. Much better... More
