Description: The Elephant is a two storey restaurant with the more informal brasserie on the ground floor and the Michelin starred, The Room on the first. The Elephant was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Yet another excellent meal from this top Torquay restaurant. Every time we visit the Riviera which is often we dine at the Elephant and have never been disappointed.Nice friendly staff offering good service, great wine list and top notch food.

Food was very average, service average. Nothing out of the ordinary, but then nothing detrimental either. I would not go back. I feel pricing in this category needs to have something good and above average to make it worthwhile.

Super 3 course lunch at an excellent price in this wonderful resturant with happy bubbly staff. Cider by the bottle expensive however the wine choices are very good and tap water lovely. Coffee at the end of the meal was delicious. The decor and ambience was super. Thoroughly recommend this place. We will be back. thank you for making our... More

Went here for the first time yesterday for a business lunch. The ambience, service and the food were all simply superb! I had the ham and leek terrine which had the most amazing flavour and texture followed by the breaded plaice in parsley which was perfectly cooked and absolutely devine accompanied by new potatoes and broccoli. We had a nice... More

This must be our fifth or sixth visit to this fab restaurant. We have never been able to fault anything. Food and service always amazing. £12.50 for three courses at lunchtime if you book and specify the offer at the moment - makes it great value too. Thoroughly recommended and lovely surroundings.

We were in Torquay for a few nights and wanted to try some decent restaurants and this looked to be pretty good although the Michelin star section wasn't open. It looks as though booking is essential for a Saturday night even off season (mid-October). We were a bit early so went to the upstairs bar which is nicely laid out.... More

A really special treat. Went there last time we were in Torquay and the repeat experience was as good as the first. Absolutely superb food. We had the taster menu upstairs in The Room. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine, and gave us a little chat with each course. We wanted the package wine - ie... More

I ate in The Room on the tasting menu last month. All the dishes were superb with the tomatoe dish being my favourite. Like the food, the service was faultless and the view of the sun setting over the harbour was lovely. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening!

We go here quite often - usually evenings when I have a drink, and I've reviewed it favourably previously. However, we took advantage of the special offer this month for lunch. As usual the food was well presented and tasty. Portions are not large but adequate. As I was driving I asked for tap water and consumed a bottle and... More
