Travelled all the way from Sheffield. Best fish & chips outside of Whitby. Battered chips unusual but delish. Fish, was very white & fresh. Staff & owner very friendly to us Yorkshire lasses. Will visit again

Pauls Plaice Chips are by far the best fish and chip shop I have ever been to. They have great customer service and their portion sizes are very big for the little money you pay.

We have gone to Paul's Plaice ever since we moved here 18 years ago. It's the best fish and chip shop in the bay. All the locals go there and nothing is too much trouble. The friendly staff are amazing and cater for your every need.

We were told by my partner's brother that "all the locals go to Paul's Plaice... Hanburys is for 'tourists'." Now I love a local chippy being from Yorkshire, and I am no food snob. I have been to Hanbury's a few times, expensive but really quite divine. So, I gave Paul's a go.... I'm going to cut to the chase... More

So this 'plaice' is all about the lightly battered chips which we weren't aware of. I just assumed it was old oil or something odd when we started eating them but on reviewing other reviews its just their thing. They were quite nice really, large portions and didn't manage to finish what we ordered. Fish was a little greasy for... More

Paul's Plaice is the best chip shop in Torquay, attracting customers from surrounding districts of the town. The chips are extra special, you will have to try them to know what I mean, and good portions. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and be prepared to wait in the queue it will be worth it. There is no 'eat in'... More
