Despite the previous negative reviews we've eaten here many times in the past and always had good food and service. The cakes and patisseries are great with a coffee. the lunch menu is good too - ham egg and chips is relatively small but the quality was very good but in contrast the French platter was enormous (and loads of... Had a quick stop here for a coffee and a cake. What a total delight. The café was pristine and the quality of the cakes looked amazing and reasonably priced. We settled on a chocolate brownie to eat there but I couldn't resist to take home three fresh fruit tarts. The chocolate brownie was absolutely delicious as was the coffee.... More

Cute little cafe, gorgeous cakes, nice coffee. But miserable unwelcoming staff, who I fear were the owners. Hence I would not visit there again. How disappointing.

Sat down at three thirty and glanced through the menu, whilst watched by the owner. Cafe had one person in it and one at the counter. After looking through the whole menu was then told by the owner that the kitchens were closed! Great service! Well done!

We visited over the bank holiday weekend for breakfast Our order was messed up and there was no apology. In fact, very poor customer relations. Such a shame as when the food did come, it was delicious and good value for money. However we were not made to feel welcome and almost seemed an inconvenience

We visited this twice in our week long holiday stay. First time for the cakes - the double chocolate terrine is to die for - gorgeous! Second time we went for lunch which was also yummy - the chef makes very tasty risotto! The owners so hospitable and friendly. Definitely reccommend!

Great location. Friendly service. Amazing hot chocolate (recommend). Exquisite cakes. Very reasonably priced. What more could girl want as a stop off, in the middle of shopping!?

I used to go to Serendipity a few years back but stopped going because the owners lost there way a little. I am so pleased I gave it another go as the cream tea was to die for and a great selection of teas. You have to be careful in Torquay because many cafes aim straight to the 'one off... More

My daughter and I decided to try Serendipity for their full english breakfast. We ordered two full english breakfasts and were slightly disappointed. The ingredients were great, all excellent quality, however they were not cooked nicely. I'm not sure how they cook the bacon but it doesn't look appealing with the fat being so pale. Perhaps they should try grilling... More
